  1. Update Regarding This Sunday's Mt. Hood Trip, (incl. Schedule of important times)

Jump in, @joelster! It should be great fun. I don't have a headcount as of yet. In the future, I'll do a better job of incorporating an RSVP set-up. While that's not a big need for a driving event (no seating reservations, etc.), it would be nice to have solid numbers. There will be plenty...
  2. Update Regarding This Sunday's Mt. Hood Trip, (incl. Schedule of important times)

For the TLDR crowd, here's the short version: 1. Mt. Defiance is a challengIng, but doable track, with a beautiful view at the end. 2. @av8or is a really good guy. 3. @portland rivian new is wonderful at organizing & planning any number of things, herding cats, and tolerating my luddite...

Seawolf, That's great to hear that you'll be joining us in Sandy at the ElectrifyAmerica station, and that you have some extra seats available. I'll help to find folks available to fill your seats, but encourage everyone to announce available seats here, and for others looking for rides to...

  6. ICE'd by a Tesla. Or was I "BEV'd"?

If they could affordably place them nearer the street (50 feet away), they'd be more visible and might attract a greater number of EV owners. This might also minimize the negatives of having the spots blocked or dedicating prime spaces that frequently go unused at this location.
  7. ICE'd by a Tesla. Or was I "BEV'd"?

That's funny! I was so focused on getting the pic and obscuring any identifiers for the Tesla, that I didn't even catch the message on the sign. To your point, I did, in fact, get 0 miles during the five minutes I was there...and unplugged. With this setup, the Tesla could've had the same 0...
  8. ICE'd by a Tesla. Or was I "BEV'd"?

I don’t necessarily disagree. While it may only save the driver a buck in charging cost, if it helps bring EV owners in to fill their shopping cart, I'm guessing the store/stores footing the install and charging costs feel its worth it. Time will tell...
  9. ICE'd by a Tesla. Or was I "BEV'd"?

I can only imagine that the past few years created millions of new potential clients for you. I'll always remember 2020 as the strangest three years of my life.
  10. ICE'd by a Tesla. Or was I "BEV'd"?

I get that and understand the sentiment. I'd likely do that if the unit was inoperable. That said, there were plenty of open spots and, as a Tesla, they couldn't plug it in, whether or not the plug was not functioning. It's not lost on me that your comment preceded mine identifying this as a...
  11. ICE'd by a Tesla. Or was I "BEV'd"?

I'm not sure how Whole Foods came into the discussion, as this is in front of an Albertson's store. When I first found this charger and the one right in front of it, I was surprised that they were placed at two of the closest spots to the front door. That's convenient for EV owners, but I'd...
  12. ICE'd by a Tesla. Or was I "BEV'd"?

The disappointing aspect of my encounter is that I'm pretty certain the charger is solely a CCS unit. I could be wrong, but I don't think so...
  13. ICE'd by a Tesla. Or was I "BEV'd"?

I stopped by the store yesterday for five minutes to pick up a few items and thought I'd plug in for a little free charging. I was surprised to see a Tesla taking up one of the two spots with charging, but noticed it wasn't plugged in. I guess I got "Tesla'd". Still unplugged when I left... No...
  14. Proposed Group Trip: Mt. Hood - Hood River Loop on October 23rd.

Neighbors, Thanks for your kind words. It's little details that can make the difference. I don't like things overplanned or too rigid, so I hope all have a great time, no matter what we find out there. Regarding the 23rd, a few thoughts... Firstly, please bring your entire family. It's always...
  15. Proposed Group Trip: Mt. Hood - Hood River Loop on October 23rd.

JJ, To be sure, I never took your input as anything more than great advice. I'm looking forward to trips where everyone knows in advance that extensive/intensive offroad adventures await. I know you'll have a ton of input about the best trails to explore, and advice as to how best to traverse...
  16. Proposed Group Trip: Mt. Hood - Hood River Loop on October 23rd.

Youch! That looks like messy fun! Hopefully I find the 5/6 rating for Mt. Defiance is overblown. More to follow....
  17. Proposed Group Trip: Mt. Hood - Hood River Loop on October 23rd.

JJ, There was method in my madness for picking a secondary starting point in Sandy. I was listening months ago. I'm hoping those not wanting to hit Edgefield earlier (for breakfast and catching rides) will be up for a little later start time/shorter overall time commitment. I was very pleased...
  18. Proposed Group Trip: Mt. Hood - Hood River Loop on October 23rd.

I'm bringing my Rivian recovery kit with me.
  19. Proposed Group Trip: Mt. Hood - Hood River Loop on October 23rd.

FWIW, their system is on a scale of 1-10. Suspecting you already know that, the videos make it look easier than a 5 to me, as well. As the road appears to be needed for telecom service vehicles, I can't imagine it will be very tough.
