Lease rates for iX3 are out. I’d take an R1S lease at $799 per month $5,694 plus $1,895 down over the iX3 at $915 with $2,500 down. (Not sure about destination fee for BMW). Interesting that they come to about the same.
There is exactly one location in the second largest state in the US (Texas) along major roads that is more than 61 driving miles from 150kW charger. I take many road trips including towing my race car to AZ and NV.
The above is ridiculous except in rare examples where you would also have to plan a fuel stop in a gas car according to my definition of often.
Also, if you have home charging:
At least 98% of Rivian owners, 98% of the time are within range of their home at 33%.
Thanks for following up. The cost seems excessive. I purchased a few (2 for the R1T with 2 batteries and 1 for the R1S with one) sets of the adapters that allow one to use an off the shelf battery preemptively.
@Ceejay Thanks for the reply. Hopefully an electrician can figure out the problem. They will probably at least recommend you replace the 60 amp breaker with a 50 amp. If it is replaced with a GFCI breaker you may run into new problems.
It looks like you have a 60 amp breaker for the NEMA 14-50 socket. I’m not sure if that is a good idea. Also, the wires connected to the 60 amp breaker look undersized in the picture. It’s hard to tell, but letting the forum know what the markings are would be helpful.
When our family evacuated for fires, we took our two cars and left the race car behind. Fit a lot of stuff that we had packed before the evacuation order.
To those that asked how often this happens, I have received a call from a shop to inform me that my car ended up hanging from its open doors on a lift. Not sure if it fell, but it was repaired and took a few months.
Me, R1T: I wanted an electric truck that was smaller than a full size truck (basically only the R1T is/was available). All the other positives were a bonus.
Spouse, R1S: wanted an electric SUV with a commanding seating position, preferably with three rows (basically only the R1S is/was...
I always use the Costco example to explain EV road trip charging. I know people that only fill up there, even on road trips. I explain it is the same situation, it takes a while, there aren’t tons of them and you can go at certain times to avoid long lines. The big difference is that when I’m...
Decided use the scissor jack to lift our other Rivian with sliders to see if I could use it for that one instead of the 4,000 pound quick Jack I have. I put the jack puck in the accesses hole for one of the bolts, so there was a chance for the puck to slip. I used the two stage method and…
I tried bolting on a couple 6” long 1-1/2” square tubes to the 3T Jack base but it didn’t work. Looks like I’m going to need more like 2 or 2-1/2” square tubing. Keep in mind the 18.3” height specification on the 3T scissor jack includes the rubber puck that comes with it. The max height of the...
