I've had it on my 2024 R1T for a couple months. It is the third powered tonneau that has been installed on my truck. The first two (pez dispenser v1 style) jammed up and became inoperative within a few months. The new one (v2 rollup style) has been great. Much quieter and it runs a little bit...
We all know that Gen2's are uploading drive data and video to feed the AI models once they connect to WiFi after a drive. There are a couple of influencer threads on X that talk about this.
It made me curious since I have seen spikes in uploaded data and I am on a Gen 1.
I have noticed on my...
I just got my truck back Friday after having a service loaner all month. I’d like to see Rivian make driver profiles portable… like Tesla. If I get in another Rivian, let me scan a QR code or something so my Apple Music, seat settings, garage door, etc appear on that car. Let me have app access...
I went into this in the other thread, but Teen mode is something Rivian should consider (maybe alongside Valet Mode).
GM does this on their cars.
* Limit acceleration / throttle mapping
* Max speed
* App Notifications
* Max volume on the entertainment system
* Car does not shift to drive if...
Aside from the valet and teen mode (covered ad-nauseum in other threads) ... it would be cool if they could re-purpose the right-side buttons and scroll wheel on the steering wheel when cruise control is not on.
Make it so the right scroll wheel can toggle drive modes. Think switching from All...
Valet mode - reduced performance, compartments stay locked, windows except front stay up, defrost/ defog only on the hvac, notifications in app, charge port stays unlocked, no radio, infotainment locked on camera app, PIN or app override
Teen Mode - face it. In 3 years, any gen 1 will be a $20k...
Talk about a Rube Goldberg setup!
I could see this being *somewhat* practical if you paired the panels with a 15 or 20 kWh battery... then you could make this a self-filling range extender. You would want to provide for additional solar panels or the ability to AC charge it at home since the...
At best, anything you keep in your car is easily retrievable by somebody that really wants it.
Windows break easily in most cars and car alarms are frequently ignored.
One good thing about the frunk is somebody casually walking by cannot see what is in it unless they saw it open.
I suppose the...
Based on the SC manager, this is a symptom of an undervoltage on one of the body control modules.
In my case, it was easy to figure out the reason. For you, it could be a failing 12v or something else like a loose wiring harness somewhere. Maybe a bad module.
You should open a ticket.
Mine did something similar once when I was getting back to my house at like 2% state of charge. I went out to the truck to unload something and the left brake light was just on…. No errors and the truck was charging (it had been plugged in for less than 5 minutes).
I opened a ticket, with a...
It may be hard to collect all of the data you are looking for... even with an Electrafi subscription, and it polling data every 8-9 seconds, I noticed it is missing some data like outside air temp but I suppose you could fill in weather data from the area to get that and barometer data.
I can tell you speed absolutely is a major factor in towing efficiency. When towing a giant box (regardless of it being 1000 or 9000 lbs) if you are going faster, the added drag gets you.
My experience is under 45mph, I am well into 1.3 ish miles/kwh. By the time I’m over 65, .8 or .9 at best.
That's accurate. You probably should not go over 35' with a T. I would say that the 32' is probably as long as I feel comfortable with personally in that setup. I learned that going down I-40 with it on a gusty day here in TN. I never felt unsafe but I now have an appreciation for why most of...
Wheelbase is important… just because a vehicle can tow a certain weight doesn’t mean you should.
There is a rule of thumb that every 4 inches of wheelbase you have equals one foot of trailer you can safely tow.
I tow a 32’ pretty regularly with my R1T and I can see the logic if it’s windy. The...
My R1T is both the best and worst tow vehicle I have ever owned or driven.
It handles great. I have to look in the mirror sometimes to make sure the trailer is still there.
The range hit is the problem. I can tell you it’s mostly a drag and wind resistance thing than weight. I just hate only...
I am curious what the demand would be for this from the owner community…
When a manufacturer designs a car, there is always some balance between how strongly a vehicle (or component or drivetrain) is designed and applied. Then they decide how long they want to underwrite a warranty for it. The...
That's more or less what happened to my first one. One loud click when I was trying to close it one day and it never came out again (but I could hear the motor trying).
The second one (v1.5) lasted only 6 months. Then this happened:
On a side note, it would be a good gag if somebody with a 3D...
