I had my 2024 Gen1 R1T in for some recall work on suspension system. I asked the advisor about upgrading my manual tonneau to the improved powered version. He said it was possible. I originally preordered my truck with the power tonneau but that was changed when they discovered all the problems with the original powered tonneau design. Has anyone successfully had this done? How has it worked?

I had the latest tonneau installed in November. It works great so far, but it’s only a month old, so I’m holding off judgement till I’ve used it a while. Like you, it was part of my original configuration before they removed it as an option, but I love having it on my Gen 1. It feels like my truck is whole now.

I've had it on my 2024 R1T for a couple months. It is the third powered tonneau that has been installed on my truck. The first two (pez dispenser v1 style) jammed up and became inoperative within a few months. The new one (v2 rollup style) has been great. Much quieter and it runs a little bit faster.

I believe the new design is much less prone to jam up.

That being said, I am not sure I would tempt fate and try to open it if there is snow or ice all over the top. I feel like I am getting too familiar with the service centers in my region.

There are more than one long threads with posts by those who are in process or have successfully completed the retrofit. There are also posts from those who fall in a VIN range that can't be retrofitted (at this time). Use the forum search and you'll find them, like this one: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...stalled-now-listed-in-rivian-gear-shop.50606/
