I saw the Ioniq 5 XRT too. While the look isn't what I'd prefer, I'm mighty tempted. It checks all the other boxes for me. Even if I might need an occasional adapter, I'd much prefer an NACS port. Ground clearance had eliminated the existing model. Dirt roads and snow buildup make the many low...
Purchased from Rivian as a second wheel set for winter tires but we sold the Rivian prior to use. They have never been mounted on a vechile or had tires mounted on the wheels. I opened the first box only to get a photo.
I have the Rivian pressure meter valve stems ($240)

It would be awesome if they had a temporary upgrade so you could pay extra for a few day trip where you really can use the extra range. We do a small number of > 300mi trips. I have a hard time justifying the extra cost for the Max for as few days/year that I need long range. If they're going to...
++ on the no-glass option. Glass roofs add so much weight. I'm biased in that I had an old vehicle with a leaky sunroof so always avoided them after that.
I also hoped the dynamic roof would reduce heat buildup but was told by my guide it wouldn't. Even if they don't promote it as reducing...
@MidnightM00N good to know. I've got a Gen1 Quad Large with Michelin LTX/MS2 (20"). I've never tried to closely measure its range but perhaps it's close. Unless 350mi is for a Gen1 Dual Motor. Maybe more likely the case.
Anyone know why the configurator shows "Up to 350 miles" for the Large battery range but it seems no option you can select gets you 350 miles ? It's odd as the Standard battery shows longer range if you select the "range" wheels but it seems to make no difference on the large or max battery.
We have a Gen 1 and it's fine on most roads but the ones in Seattle with old expansion joints really result in an unpleasantly rough ride even in "soft" mode. We're just visiting but if Ilived there, I'd be tempted to switch cars.
@Mark_AZR1T Where can I find any info on the trims ? I'm also interested in the Gravity for range and road manners but also anticipate the trim I'm going to want will be unaffordable (or maybe just wouldn't want to spend that much on an SUV). I've read through what I can find. If I have to pay...
I had been querying the store for Gen 2's and noticed the posted lease rates increased from about 930 to 1050 when I queried store availability this morning. Were it not for the extra digit in the monthly payment quote I would not have noticed. They don't post the money factor they use in the...
I'm in the same boat. Our Gen1 gets toasty when the sun is high and was looking to this feature to help if I upgrade but if it does nothing for the inside temp reduction, I'll pass. Maybe it's not worth it.
I'm on the same fence. I see a few benefits of an upgrade.
I'm interested in a R2S so can lease which provides some depreciation insurance and get the 7500 rebate built in. Our nest is emptying so don't need the R1S size quite as much as last year and will need it even less next year.

@SSpearsAU
Where do you notice the Gen2 handling improvements most ? Curious how you'd describe the difference. I pushed one of the Rivian salespeople for a description but he thought it was subtle. Not sure how much time he had in a Gen2.
Do Gen2 R1S have the same wheel dimensions ? Wondering if I couild keep my winter wheelset (the stock 20" forged wheels) if I upgraded. Silly detail perhaps but yet another hurdle.
Also curious on the handling improvements. I don't know what I'm missing there but are the differences apparent...
Rivian. The car has < 6k miles on it. I didn't know it would be considered good. II thought I'd take a stab at the used market but given the number of used R1S listings, might be tough. Keeping it is looking more and more probable.
@lefkonj
Your Gen1 though is a sunk cost no matter the deal you got. So it's all about what you'd be willing to pay to swap for a Gen2. If you wanted to swoap your old Quad Gen1 for a Tri/Quad Gen2, it's likely 30k. A bit less if you just want Gen 2 benefits and you can downgrade the motor...
Anyone out there going to take the cost hit and trade-up for Gen2 ? I at least ran through the cursory (and ultimately ugly) cost math. A few of the Gen2 features would be nice. Ours gets kinda hot in the summer with the huge moon roof. We have relatively long trips so a max pack would be on my...
I guess it depends. The upgrade cost is huge. I've only noticed ride quality in my R1S on I5 South of Seattle, no issues anywhere else but maybe I don't know what I'm missing. I think best case I can sell my Quad R1S Adv for around 20k below the price of a Dual Large Gen2 minus it's options. I'm...
I thought $20k would be the difference between what I could fetch for my R1S Quad Gen 1 and the Gen2 Dual Max, or thereabouts. Granted with fewer options. Good to know on the range being optimistic. Leaning towards keeping mine.
Curious what you thought in terms of upgrade value for the money for current owners.
I have a < 1yo R1S Quad. Range is a big deal for us so 360mi or 410mi would be nice. I can't see paying the $40k it would cost to get a Gen2 Quad but I'm not rock crawling, just family of 5 hauling so curious...
