I have both, the original launch R1T and the launch Quad second gen. The second generation quad is a definite upgrade. But for anything lower on the food chain, I’d stick to the original.
I recently traded one of my Launch R1T’s for the new Quad. I reserved the Quad on the day it was announced, the same as I did on the first Launch, so my delivery was very quick.
The Storm Blue is a better color than I thought after reviewing the supposed same color on another model. I still...
I have found the Rivian maps to be fine. What I really miss is Waze. I Finally broke down and bought one of those iPhone holders so I could keep Waze in front of me.
Service is a matter of where it is. My service on the Launch editions has been truly outstanding. Best experience I have ever had, every time. But I live in Southern CA. Its growth pains. They are doing everything right. It will just take time for the rest of the country to experiece what...
I also have two R1T Launch Editions and put my deposit down about the same time. (I wonder where our respective positions are in line.). However, I differ with you in two areas:
1) I am fine with waiting. I waited years after putting my deposit down the first time. Take all the time they need...
You’re missing the whole point and maybe that’s intentional. No one is suggesting dealerships in the US. Have you ever taken one of your vehicles to a service shop that wasn’t a dealership? At least in So CA, they are very good.
The only folks bitching about Rivian is this thread complaining...
Dealerships and franchises are similar but one is a variety of the other. Dealerships in the US have three departments: new sales, used sales: service. You might be interested to know that, on average, profit is generated primarily by the last two. In far off locations, all three would be...
No. That’s the point. Go down to your local, traditional vehicle dealer. Any but Tesla will do. Do you think GM/Ford/Jeep furnishes the service people? The salespeople? The showroom? No. They have “certified” mechanics. How? The franchisee hires the people and send them through the same...
That’s - why - the - franchise - suggestion. Look up how it works in other vehicle industries. Farm equipment, Caterpillar, etc, Tesla had the funding to avoid it. Rivian doesn’t.
Add Turks & Caicos’s Providenciales to the list. Rivians would be perfect for this island as well. Gas prices are crazy high, solar is pervasive. Range anxiety would never be a factor. Back home, I recently had to take one of my R1Ts in for the battery thing. How would I do that simple...
Thanks for the update. I am considering trading one of my launch R1Ts for the new quad and value the comparisons to Gen 2. I would also add, though, that expecting a 10Klb truck to perform like a sports car just because it has lots of HP and four week drive, is not on my checklist. I have two...
Initially. But it is also the only way to provide an opening to bring it back on shore or to develop an alternative. Through decades of ignoring the obvious, we have provided China with a huge competitive advantage. Dumb and dumber.
Most of you may not remember the “energy crisis” in 1973. A big time wake up call. Trump did a wake up call during his first term. A very long overdue one on China. Some of it stuck, some not. It’s a big world. WW II proved we can work around things when we have to. We need to focus on...
You must have a better search engine than I have. I found several, the shortest being 15 minutes talking about a whole bunch of things other than what I was looking for.
Features change too quickly with the updates. We need an index. I have zero interest in sitting through a long u-tube video to decide why a different display suddenly popped up on the left of the driver's display and how to change it to something else. Or what those options are these days.
Have to disagree. Look at Porsche, Ferrari. Make a great product and charge for it. Then make a Cayenne and then a Macan for volume. Different segment for sure, but the comparison works. There will always be Chevy’s and Korean wannabes. Rivian is in a very good segment. Let Tesla chase...
