Do Rivian higher ups tend to monitor this site? I am really curious as to what seems like a policy of strategic uncertainty for the Quad release timing. I imagine I will get a few meme "soon" responses to this, but is it actually good for Rivian to be so opaque about the timing? I was thinking maybe they believe it gets people to by Tri Motors that don't want to wait, but it also has to be getting some people to instead buy Hummers, Cybertrucks, etc. instead. I don't see a real downside to more clarity on this front, but maybe I am missing something.

Wait a couple more days and I’m guessing you’ll have clarity.

There are pictures in their factory from the last 2 weeks of quads rolling off the line. Any day now

And two months ago I was told to keep an eye of for the production validation ones driving around whist at the factory. I was amazed at how fast they responded to an unauthorized photo of the factory floor (taken from the lobby through the two story high glass wall) - literally minutes from posting online to security approaching me. At the point that influencers are 'leaking' it's a co-ordinated done deal.

Re Rivian Leadership monitoring this site - of course they do, but also they are wise enough to not engage or ack it at all. I've had emails with the upper end of middle management where they have 'read my reddit posts'.

The Pikes Peak showing was strategic because they knew it wouldn't be rolling off the line soon. It might have gotten people to wait on the quad instead of buying a competitive vehicle.

I could not imagine anyone thinking of a Rivian looking at the CyberTrash, just so different.

Rivian said in 2025, no February or May but a year. It is a halo style vehicle that won't sell a ton but keep a small percentage of people happy. I am sure it will happen but it won't 'Break the wall' for them.

They aren't saying because they'll be held to it and the answer is simply they don't have a date. They're working on it and will announce something when they are sure.

Native NACS is due to be released this month (June) for Rivian per little birdies. Suspect the Quad will launch with NACS. Still just day three of June.

Hummers, Cybertruck, those are not competitors. Tri-motor, ICE trucks, those are the alternatives.

They still have some of those Dune Tri Motors in stock lol...They're trying to squeeze as much out of the current Tri inventory as they can. I also think they had some serious torque vectoring issues with the next gen quad as it was literally driving sideways (prototype) when tested for SUV of the year.

I also noticed the comments about torque vectoring not engaging very much during the test driving of the quad. What do you think is the chance that our first gen quads get some trickle-down torque vectoring tuning love? A guy can always hope.

I doubt it as these are both completely new motors but who knows.

I watched that video, and it can't be a perpetual issue they've yet to solve considering they did the Pikes Peak in one already.

I hope so.

You can see it will pull back a bit on the inside motors here and there, just a bit, but not as much as you'd expect given the finer level of wheel control the individual motors provide. Gen 1 motors though unfortunately suffer from an inability to shed waste heat quickly, and full out high output can quickly tax their thermals and derate them.

I wonder if some of the background work on the Max Pack charging profiles/temp ratings in the 2025.18 release is meant to address not only customer issues with the max pack and it's poor charge curve, but potentially open up more battery thermal headroom for high amp demands. Pikes Peak was a prime example of fully sorted motor thermals, but a battery that they really needed to watch to prevent turtle mode/ or shut down towards the end of the race.
