So I did a search on these keywords and found nothing, so I'm guessing this subject has not been posted. I noticed several financial oriented media outlets are speculating on the possibility of Apple either investing in or buying Rivian, since they' officially ditched their EV project last week...
@Mygrain I'm new to Rivian, but not EV startups. As a reservation holder for an Aptera since 2021, they still haven't produced a vehicle yet. So I've endured a lot of failed expectations and have a very thick skin to temper those expectations.
Rivian newbie here, though I've followed their progress since the building of the Normal plant. I've been waiting for the R2 since then, so I placed a reservation on the reveal day 3/7/24. I will use every once of patience I have, while waiting for it to be produced. It probably won't happen...
While I believe it's likely they will stick with the first half of 2026 target, I do think it's possible they could surprise us with a late 2025 start. Under promise and over deliver might be their strategy.
American made is decided by the amount of U.S. made content is inside the vehicle, not the location of the company or the factory. I believe 70% or more is required, last time I checked.,
Even though it is low population, Rivian should still do it as an outdoor destination venue, that is the entire state of Alaska! If they do, they would also be wise to install chargers on the Alcan highway where there currently is next to nothing, in northern British Columbia and Yukon...
