Thanks for posting. Your sounds excellent, no delay between the two tones as in the video from OP.
Did you tap into the original horn to connect the second one? Or did you use a relay, connected directly to the 12v battery?
I ask because I tapped into the original horn and I got the 1/2 sec delay.
I noticed the same. I installed a 2nd horn the way it’s done here and I also notice a 1/2 sec delay. I believe is due to a voltage drop. I saw another video where the 2nd horn is installed using a relay and there is no delay.
If anyone goes this route for managing/tucking in wires, please be careful with the Airbags located in the A pillars and right above the window (between pillar A and B) of both passenger and driver. You don’t want to accidentally damage or deploy the airbag with any tools.
Also, if you run any...
This may be related to my situation. My accessory (dashcam) comes with a 15amp fuse. I’m concerned about tapping F48 as its fuse is a 10amp. Even if the 15amp fuse is connected after the 10amp; wouldn’t this overload and pop the 10amp?
Are both fuses in your dual-fuse tap connector of the same amperage?
I have a situation in which my accessory (dashcam) comes with a 15amp fuse and the original to tap (F48) is 10amps.
Thanks, I’ve seen the video. It helps to an extent. For dashcam setups with Parking Mode (recording while parked) there is a third cable that needs to tap on an “Always On” fuse to the 12V battery. It’s not clear which fuses are “Always On”.
Thanks.
So the 12V and the Actuator?
Any reason why you picked the actuator’s fuse?
Also, have you ever found your dashcam off because it drained the 12v battery past the drain threshold?
Which fuse are you using for “Always On” ? I tried the “Horn” fuse (based on the fuse map) but I was surprised to find out that the horn was working even without the fuse in. ??‍♂️
I tried doing the same (dashcam to mirror power feed); but the dashcam stays on all the time (at least 40min after I locked and left).
Is this your case as well? Do you know if this mirror tap power is coming from the 12V battery?
They look the same to me. Don’t focus the actual fuses because may not be in use (no fuse in them). However the slots are the same as far as I can see.
So today I tried tapping the mirror (directly from the power cable behind it) to connect my dashcam. I was able to power it up but to my surprise, the dashcam continued recording for more than 40min until I disconnected it. I left the vehicle, locked, nothing on the seats. I thought the power...
Thanks for such a well detailed chronicle with photos!
I may be overthinking this but what did you mean by “since I didn't care about parking mode, tied both the battery and ACC wires to the same fuse”. Do you mind elaborating?
Also, what phone holder are you using? I can see it on one of the...
Whelp… If insurance companies are gonna keep playing this game, they’ll be forcing states to create state-funded (ahem! Social) insurance. And then, they’ll whine about unfair competition.
