I thought that my front dampers on my 2023 R1S had a leak as the front right side was always bottomed out when sitting in my driveway. I mentioned it during a service visit and they replaced both front dampers with the updated 2024 revision dampers and air springs. The front right still bottoms...
I’m a one issue buyer: Aluminum brake and accelerator pedals :)
Gen 1 Quad had them standard and I paid $73K. You can only get them on a Gen 2 Tri/Quad and it will now cost you at least $105K
If I need fully automated driving I can take the $30K I saved any buy a used Tesla with FSD.
You still get most of the updates on the Gen 1, just not the ADAS improvements. My Gen 1 has had numerous features added via updates over the last year.
I got a 2023 R1S Quad (limestone, AT package, dark AT wheels) with just 350mi on it at CarMax for $73K. Had it over a year now and it’s been nearly flawles. Late 2023/2024 builds are your best bet as they have all the suspension updates that the earlier builds lack.
i demo’d a Gen 2 dual and it...
I had the exact same damper replacement done on my 2023 R1S. PT00614436-C1/PT00614437-C1 are Rivian’s parts #s for the combination damper/air spring assembly.
if you actually look at the part numbers on the components you’ll see:
Dampers:
Right: PT00055320-C
Left: PT00055318-C
Air Springs...
I got 2023 quad with 350mi on it for $73K (limestone, AT20s, underbodyshield.) Absolutley love it! Demo’d a 2025 Dual and it was a total shit show: terrible audio, wind noise, HVAC deafeningly loud, no high Regen, shorter warranty, none of the extras included (camp speaker, air compressor, etc...
isn’t the Gen 1 Quad limited to 650HP in AP? I thought the full 835HP was reserved for Sport mode only so similar to the Gen 2 Quad power restrictions. Although, when not in launch mode the Gen 2 Quad is actually slower than the Gen 1 Quad so HP seems to be more severely capped on the Gen 2.
I paid $73K for my 2023 Quad (AT20, limestone, underbody shield.) it has 5Kmi now, looking around the Seattle area many dealers are asking $75K-$80K for something similar. Never thought a niche EV like this would appreciate but there you go!
sorry, just saw this. When the front dampers of my 2023 R1S where replaced they installed these ones which where stock for a 2024 R1S
Right: PT00055320-C
Left: PT00055318-C
I think these are the last Gen 1 dampers. It may be possible to retrofit Gen 2 dampers but the Rivian catalog does...
if it’s a later 2023 or 2024 Gen 1 then it already has the upgraded Gen 2 dampers so not much, if any difference between late Gen 1 and Gen 2 suspension.
sorry,to hear that. I had some passenger side windnoise that was 100% fixed at the SC. Gen 1, Aug 2023 build.
Gen 2 I demoed was worse, also had crazy loud HVAC fan.
The Rivian tech also told me a lot of wind noise is generated by having panels which aren’t flush. In fact, he said each panel should be slightly inset as you go from front to back which prevents anything from sticking out.
I had wind noise from day 1 on the passenger side window. I asked the SC to fix it and the first thing the tech did was to put the vehicle into service mode and do a window calibration via the service screen. That immediately fixed it but he also did some physical manipulation of the...
Most Rivian leases ive seen show a Montana registration. I believe there’s a tax savings for Chase bank to have all their leased vehicles registered in Montana.
The supply chain for Rivian is throughly international. Just take a look in your wheel well, on the suspension alone you’ll see “Made in Mexico,“ “Made in United Kingdom,” “Made in Poland,” and “Made in China.”
what’s your vin? Did you look very closely at all the panels and hood? I think most Rivians have at least a few of these misalignments but most people just don’t notice them as they aren’t critical.
that’s interesting, you’re the first person I’ve heard of who had their rear dampers replaced. The PT01123376-A is what the current Gen 2s have. I wasn’t sure if those were backwards compatible with Gen 1, but apparently they are. The left one PT00055237-E is actually what came with your car so...
