My $.02 is that you don't know how good self driving is until you experience it. I have it in my Tesla (and obviously not my Gen 1 Rivian), and I'm honestly bummed it won't be coming to the R1S.
I don't know many people who regularly use the full HP of the fastest models (though I do have the...
Good suggestion. Earlier today I made an appointment for Saturday and am getting four new Toyo Open Country AT III EV tires. Appt for alignment is about a week out. Will get on a regular rotation schedule.
Yep - it’s on me for not acting sooner. I don’t drive it often (wife does), and when I finally noticed it a while back I put it on a “to do” list that never got acted on. Will handle in coming days.
I just scheduled a service center visit for the alignment, but as you can see from the attached pics our front passenger tire has worn down pretty badly compared to the other 3. What’s the play? Replace the one tire or bite the bullet and replace all 4? Pics attached of all 4.
Edit: 20k miles...
Similar issue here on my wife’s R1S. I might swing by the service center one of these days and see if they have a thought before I schedule an appointment.
I seem to recall that with a new generation charger they were going to try to enable V2H for (certain?) existing powerwall/gateways, but last I read somewhere that wasn’t working.
I don’t think so but honestly don’t know. AFAIK it’s new hardware, but maybe it’ll replace the former Powerwall gateways going forward. Inside it has 8 circuits, so it’s not a whole house backup, just 8 circuits. Fortunately that covered most of what I wanted/needed. No AC or pool equipment, but...
In SoCal and my job was about $5,300 less the $4k Foundation Series/CyberBeast credit, so about $1,200 out of pocket. Already had a 400amp panel, space for the new subpanel/gateway, and my panel was close to the garage, so minimal wiring from a distance perspective (just a small run of conduit...
I’ll admit I didn’t read this entire thread, but I just had my V2H PowerShare installed by a Tesla certified installer for my Cybertruck and I don’t have a powerwall anywhere in my setup. They would have the smallest of batteries in the gateway *if* there really was a battery in the middle.
I’m...
When people can’t get insurance in high fire zone areas here in CA they need to go to the state and it is definitely not cheaper. Despite my annoyance with insurance companies it’s obnoxiously expensive compared to what the market provides.
That’s a great idea - might call my agent next week to ask about the same. I’m also near a fire zone (but not in it), and precious few insurance companies are writing policies here. I’m just going to suck it up until the cycle turns, at which time I might shop things.
When you say chip repairs, do you mean rock chips on the paint?
If so, I’m not surprised. Given the current state of the insurance industry, at least here in California, I wasn’t willing to use my homeowners insurance for a water leak that caused a few thousand dollars in damage. Sadly I’d...
Between our LE R1S and the new rolling refrigerator I’m going to sit this one out. My wife has taken over the R1S (SmurfMobile) and can barely use Bluetooth. She never once initiated adaptive cruise control on any of our last 5-6 cars that had it. Virtually every upgraded feature would be...
I think the answer is simply because it's Elon & he's not known to stay w/ the status quo wrt any of the companies he's at the helm of.
Beyond futuristic and extremely polarizing in its design, sharing materials with Starship and bullet proof panels. All completely unnecessary, but also not...
Yep - it's a look very few people truly like. I'm the complete opposite, where I think it looks the worst from the front (head on), but the side and angled profile is increasingly growing on me.
As I shared earlier, I think that person who said it's like a turd in a punch bowl when you see it...
I wouldn’t expect anyone that hasn’t driven it yet to get it. No different than our ICE-loving SUV/Truck driving friends hating on the Rivian until or unless they actually experience one.
Someone on a Rivian Facebook forum put it perfectly - the Cybertruck is like a turd in a punch bowl in commuter traffic.
But..beyond the looks, in my 2.5 weeks of owning mine I like it more and more each day. I’ve driven our R1S twice since then, and I’m sorry to say but it quite literally...
