  1. Is this the R2 spotted in the wild?

I am inclined to believe that this is the R2 preproduction vehicle out for a photos shoot. 1. That is not a charge port in the back. Just some extra black surface. Note no charger door cover (white plastic plate) or a charge cable going to the car. Rivian charger cables leave the top of the...
  2. Camp Speaker doesn't turn "off" when docked?

The speaker is an odd item for me as well. Charging seems to not work well in the vehicle. The rest of the features seem fine. I just look at this a standard BT speaker, with a fitted case.
  3. Tesla: "First Cybertruck Built at Giga Texas! 🤠"

The first one off the line and the front and back doors don't line up. The panel gaps at the front bump (corner and above) could fit a deck of cards. What else are they hiding with all those people. It seems like they forgot the most basic step in car design. What is a truck and how do they...
  4. Rivian R1T Frustration

Can I ask what the photos are showing? Namely the two images that look like painted areas next to gloss black areas? is this near the glass roof? I honestly need help with what part of the truck that is. thanks
  5. The Competition: 2024 Silverado EV Reviews Are Here

Did anyone else see that center screen. They didn't put a lot of effort in that one. I guess they had to cheap out somewhere after the extra 3000lbs of batteries they added.
  6. An idiot hit us in “ Small overlap front collision” and I assume totaled my R1T [Updated with pic of damage to other truck 😱]

Great call on the model in year. I searched Chevy s10 1990 and the top image was an identical blue truck. This really shows how truck design and safety has changed.
  7. A $7,500 tax credit for electric cars changed, again. These are the models impacted [WARNING: NO POLITICS / FISCAL POLICIES]

All the info I have seen points towards SK for cell manufacturing. A few tear-down videos show the battery cells and marking on each. All searches show these being produced in South Korea. I couldn't find anything on material sourcing. Hopefully we will hear more from Rivian, and/or their...
  8. R1T Ride Quality Harsh on Bumpy Surfaces

Could this also be an issue of just being new to you? I notice when I switch over to my wife's suv (same make, slightly smaller) I feel every bump magnified. 30 minutes later it seems to mellow out. Same with my wife riding as the passenger in her car, it feels different to her. I have only...
  9. Ford (et al) versus Rivian 2022 deliveries & production numbers: no small accomplishment

I would guess that number is 2-3x higher than 3,000 EDVs. They likely could make more money off the amazon contract per vehicle and simpler to build. The last drone fly over I saw had close to 2000 EDVs produced and sitting on the lot for shipping. They were intermixed with the R1's and were...
  10. R1S big butt - is it an issue for owners

this is something you need to see in person. The comparison photo may not be scaled well. I have a XC90 and its not much bigger in size or feel. It does feel roomier inside due to the squared off corners. It is nice size SUV. It drives nicely on the road and had a surprising nimble turning...
  11. Self-Employed: Don't ignore the massive tax deduction benefit of depreciation!

Self-employed can own it as a personnel vehicle (not owned/titled by the company) The main rules not clearly lists above the use of the vehicle. Must have at least 50% business use mileage. Should also own for 5 years before selling to avoid recapture. Any profit you make on resale after 5...
  12. Driver+ Not up to current Spec - A Deal Breaker (?)

Old post, so Ill keep it short. This is a important feature to have and use. I have this (level 2) self driving group of features on my Volvo and it is awesome for freeway driving. It keeps me in the center of my lane and spaced safely behind other drivers. This seems pretty basic. If it can't...
  13. Official Range Reduction by Wheel Size

The part I am not seeing in this post is the speed you drive the car. EPA testing is a set mix of speeds to simulate actual highway driving conditions. The Average speed for the EPA highway mileage test is around 43 MPH. The out of spec test and the others done by inside EVs are at a much higher...
  14. CA HOV Stickers Match our Accent Nicely (for '22 at least)

what's to stop someone from stealing the magnet?
  15. CA HOV Stickers Match our Accent Nicely (for '22 at least)

Let us know how those hold up on the Plastic trim sections. I have only had them on the painted sections (my car did not have plastic on the lower edge). Interesting that they went back to Yellow since that was used a long time ago when the program started. Still a lot of cars with the old...
  16. Scaringed!

Honestly, they should have foreseen some of this and simplified their production expectation out of the gate. Making a simple EV would have been a challenge for a new car brand. Making one as complicated and detailed as this one was a true challenge. I am glad they are communicating the issues...
  17. Vice article on e-guzzlers

Did I miss the part of the article where he mentioned all the EVs that were too small or short of range and had trouble selling? I recall the Fiat EV with its small battery, low cost and short range was short lived. People didn't want them, and were dumped back at the dealers when all the...
  18. CFO Confirms 15K R1T / R1S to be Produced in 2022

I don't think you will see many people drop their preorders for a while. Especially those who ordered before the price increase. This was always a very expensive vehicle from a cash perspective. When you compare the absolute ton of features, capabilities, speed, design and electrification into...
  19. CFO Confirms 15K R1T / R1S to be Produced in 2022

RJ mentioned supply constraints were currently the chips and wiring harnesses. If that is true and they can fix the wiring harness supply issue---- do you think they would start maxing out productions and add chips later? I know Ford did this for a while with the Bronco. They had thousands...
  20. CFO Confirms 15K R1T / R1S to be Produced in 2022

This seems like non-news for me. RJ was clear in his investor call that they were aiming for 25,000 for this year's production and they would meet their commitment to amazon (that is 10,000). I am hoping out hope they can fix the supply issues and get these out fast and sooner.
