For the guys getting such high mileage on their 20s in conserve, I assume you're running in the lowest / firmest setting? The single biggest reason we're going Rivian over another Tesla is suspension refinement, so I plan on saving that slammed setting for emergencies. How much of an impact would raising up one level have?

I am also dying to know what happens to range/efficiency if you mount road tires to the 20s, which are the only wheel designs I personally care for.

I find the Lowest suspension setting to be not great. I almost wish Rivian would make the Lowest and Highest suspension settings require a special acknowledgement to use them.
Generally, I ride in soft and Standard for overall ride quality on the highway and surface streets. On the twisty mountain roads of my commute, I do switch to stiff suspension for the steering feel.

If I remember correctly, Kyle's test started in the 40's and never got past the 50's (degrees Fahrenheit). It will be interesting to see what improvement in range comes with another 20 degrees or more.

I run in All-Purpose on Standard height. 70% = 248 mi.

what’s your mi/kwh like? I’m on 20’s and 70% on All Purpose is 195 miles for me.
I have never reset it, but last time I looked it was 2.09 over a few thousand miles (including the initial Road Warrior phase of ownership).

Oh very nice! I’m still under a thousand miles and at 1.91. Hopefully mine gets up in the 2’s after some less spirited driving.

We drove our truck 750 miles in the first 48 hours of ownership.

Highway range in conserve mode with 80mph Drive+ engaged was 289 miles with the 20 A/T. That's coastal elevation.

Yeah, after last weekend's shenanigans, and with adaptive learning capabilities, my R1T told me that my expected Sport range was now only 172 miles. The good news is that the interior cameras and the UI recorded a 303% readout on the "Grin-O-Meter".

??? "Mission Accomplished!"

I'm guessing a return to prudent practices will increase the expected range "soon".....

And, yes, I'm kidding about the range, but not the grins.....
Unrelated: the guy in the back seat looks like a cardboard cutout to me.

The part I am not seeing in this post is the speed you drive the car.
EPA testing is a set mix of speeds to simulate actual highway driving conditions.
The Average speed for the EPA highway mileage test is around 43 MPH.
The out of spec test and the others done by inside EVs are at a much higher speed.
They test at 70 MPH to better simulate long highway driving.
The out of spec results show the R1T did well and was very close to the stated MPG.
Yes, it was on conserve, but that is also a proper use of the setting for a long high-speed drive.
Other cars tested on inside EVs show more grim results. most other teslas, bolts and other EVs have a loss of 12-20% total miles when driven at 70 mph (compared to the epa highway rating).
Only the Porsche went up in miles when drive fast (I believe it was like +50 miles of range)

Driving this heavy truck at 70 mph on off road tire and still coming near the EPA range is impressive and shows that the truck was designed right and not to just beat the testing system.

I assure you, he's very real and a great Riviot, but I think I look photo-shopped into my own driver's seat. It may be nothing more than my pasty Scot-Irish complexion exposed to real Sunlight... ?

I wonder if we can expect efficiency improvements from OTA, not just with charging but with total range like we've seen on occasion from Tesla.
I was told those who prove that they charge prudently and treat the battery properly might see an individual improvement via OTA, possibly with little or no notice. It could be that you follow the guidelines and charge to no more that 70% the vast majority of the time, and keep the battery from draining too far before charging again. Then, you get into your Rivian one day, and Bingo!, your range is greater than expected.

That privilege would likely be revocable if later the pattern of battery use/abuse changes, or should a new owner treat the battery differently. As Rivian is warranting the battery to at least 70% of its original capability for the earlier of 8 years or 175k miles, it would be a privilege to have more of the total capacity "unlocked". I think I also heard that a temporary unlocking might be possible, in a pinch, but that isn't as clear in my memory as is the first scenario.

I'd guess general improvements and overall results could make the wholesale unlocking of most all batteries possible. Wouldn't that be nice?
