    R1S was #4 best selling EV in Q1 2024! Let’s gooo!

The R1S is also much more palatable to a wider audience than the R1T. The R1S checks the box for both the off-roader types (like myself), but also is a great vehicle for soccer mom types (like my wife) who want a classy looking vehicle that has 3 rows and can shuttle kids and their shit around...

Prinsu Pro Roof Rack on R1S - install photos & review

We had a Prinsu rack on our Land Cruiser, and it was awesome. Glad to see it come to the R1S...now how to convince my wife....

How do you handle texts in your R1?

Androids (at least our Pixels) have equivalent functionality (both driving/focus modes and a very good talk-to-text function)

Rivian tops estimates with Q1 deliveries of 13,588 [⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

Ironic you mention Tesla's 25k cars today...as those appear to be dead now. https://www.theverge.com/2024/4/5/24122064/tesla-cancel-affordable-electric-vehicle-model-2-china

Tri-Motor and Premium Trim added to R1 VIN database

Agreed. The quad motor is something that truly sets Rivian apart in the 4x4 world. Having individual vectoring, as you mentioned, is something I would love to see more of...being able to eliminate the need for lockers, etc., is a big deal. I hope they don't throw that away.

So, scratches at a level 6, with deeper grooves at a level 7?

R2 / R3 has heat pump (confirmed by RJ)

Heat pumps are getting much more efficient (I think I read/saw somewhere of residential heat pumps being produced that work down to -10F...but still very very new), and the Tesla one works just fine in the teens and above. But as you mentioned, the colder the climate, the less likely a heat pump...

R2 / R3 has heat pump (confirmed by RJ)

Just anecdotal. Driving into the mountains in the winter means a good chunk of energy loss is simply from driving up 5000' of elevation, so I never bothered to see "what if I do the same drive at 60F vs 70F interior temp?" (not to mention, my wife and kids would likely murder me and throw my...

R2 / R3 has heat pump (confirmed by RJ)

I live in the same area (Denver/Front Range Metro) and regularly drive to/from the mountains as well (thanks a lot, Breck Bombers ski school). The R1 has no problem blasting heat even in single-digit weather, and I still have zero issues getting from Denver to Breck to Denver on a single charge...

    Indications of an R1 refresh

It doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. Reducing parts numbers across all models would be both a refresh to the R1 as well as a cost-savings by reducing parts. Example being making the steering wheel the same, or very similar, across models. Same with the charging pad...if they can source a...

Rivian R2 Platform Photo From Q4 Shareholder Letter

Worked at a Big 3 (something about a high military ranking and power production module), and your thoughts are 100% in line with mine. It's one thing to build the R1T/R1S, as they are effectively the same vehicle, much like the GMC Yukon, Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, and Cadillac Escalade (and...

    Seventh R2 teaser photo!

Also, confirmation that tailgate will be a single piece. How does the roof look (think Tesla X vs Y....very different)? What's the camera setup/cruise control? How much does it tow? What are the drive modes? ...and most importantly...will it still come with the oh-so-dreamy Listerine washer fluid?

Rivian to cut 1 of 3 shifts for R1 production at Normal plant, starting next month

It's possible in automotive manufacturing, but highly unlikely with the R1/R2. They don't share the same architecture or chassis, so building the line to accommodate both would be stupidly expensive. If they wanted to build the R2 at Normal, they'd likely take one of the lines down and retool...
