Yes. But my driving habits, including following distance haven't changed since I drove my Prius and the to of that windshield is barely 4 feet of the ground. So it should have been broken all the time but it never broke.
I basically only drive in All-Purpose. So, the R1T is much higher off the ground than my Prius with a massive windshield that was never broken in 10 years of ownership. That's why I was a little suspicious of the quality of the glass in the R1T.
I suppose "need" is pretty strong. But in modern vehicles, the windshield itself plays a role in the structural integrity of the vehicle during a crash. A cracked windshield doesn't do it's role properly. And here in the US, a cracked windshield is a violation that can get you a fine. And, yes...
Both of these have been rock strikes that immediately cracked to the edges of the windshield, so no repair was possible. They had to be replaced. Oddly, both occurred near the bottom of the windshield in the 8 inches of glass that is not visible from inside the cab.
Has anyone else had problems with the windshield on their R1T? I've had my truck for a little more than a year, and I'm on my third windshield. I've never had to replace a windshield this much on any other vehicle I've owned.
Update: the service center disconnected the 12 volt battery and discharged the system. Then restarted and it all worked. They said that there were no messages of failure in the log. So it seems mine was just a blip of some sort.
Thanks a lot. I really appreciate your help. This is really the first thing that has come up with my truck in the year that I've owned it. But it's still a bit of a bummer. Still, my buddy bought the Ford Maverick at about the same time, and he says he's lost count of the number of recalls that...
Wow! OK. I happened to be driving near the service center anyway, so I stopped. Luckily, there was a tech available and he came out to give it a quick look. He said it was a more serious TCM problem. I didn't know what that meant, but I had them add that info to the ticket. I'm guessing that...
This exact same thing just happened to me. I can't restart the vehicle and it won't connect to WIFI or the mobile network. I have an appointment with Rivian service on Wednesday.
How did yours get fixed? Did it start working on it's own or did you need to have a part replaced?
If commercial activity is forbidden at rest stops, how come all our rest stops have vending machines selling lots of overpriced stuff? That is certainly commercial activity, part of my family literally made a fortune in vending machines. Why can't we just call a charger and electric vending...
While it's true that "stuff breaks", EV chargers are a special case. How many times have you pulled into a Costco gas station and found half the pumps out of order? It never happens. But that's all too common with chargers whether they are Tesla or someone else. The infrastructure for EV...
I agree. I thought the speaker was a great idea. And I still think it's a great IDEA. But the implementation is, well, not good. My speaker will randomly turn on and connect to my phone while it's in the truck and my phone is next to me while I'm sleeping. Or sometimes just refuse to connect to...
I like the Yeti brand as much as anyone, but you can buy a yellow on one side and dark grey on the other side comforter from Walmart for $35. Machine washable like the Yeti one. Or, if you're really cheap, you can get one on Temu for about $15.
I took my new R1T with Adventure package and 20 AT wheels on a road trip from Minneapolis to St. Louis Missouri, to Madison Wisconsin and then back to Minneapolis. Here are my reactions.
1) R1T adaptive cruise is waaaaay too slow to accelerate back up to set speed when passing a vehicle that's...
I'm waiting for my R1T. Anybody willing to meet up to chat about your experience with your R1T? I'm curious to hear about your experience with the vehicle. This will be my first electric vehicle, so I've got a lot of questions. I'll spring for the drinks.
