After Rivian decided to not make the RC/FE that I confirmed in September my guide briefly had an opportunity to match me with something with BM, but my wife was against it so we went into "processing", lost the $7500 tax credit, and selected a FG/FG from the Shop when we were given access in January. We took delivery Friday afternoon.
Kevin was very nice and said we had an hour - we spent almost 2 hours since we both took familiarization laps around the block and there were some Bluetooth pairing issues - but we never felt pressured to hurry the process and even spent some time doing delivery photos at the end. The only remarkable delivery issue is that the car can only have one "Owner" so my wife was relegated to "Driver". After going through the process for all the paperwork including the title application as equals, that came across as a real gut punch to both of us. I'm sure that we're a bit more "woke" in Seattle than other parts of the country, but we've both had workplace training that every professional has to receive these days and we are surprised at the insensitivity.
Now the more important points: late 2022 build (3100s) with one frunk magnet and no outlet. What's really weird is that the tub appears to have originally been targeted for dual magnet setup but was switched to single (see photo). And no wood on the headrest rear surface - Kevin said they had an internal memo saying those were phased out.
Very much on the plus side, we cannot spot any panel gaps. We are not super picky on this but my wife has a good eye - she spotted a few tiny blemishes on door trim for example. There was nothing significant on the walkaround though Kevin encouraged us to create tickets for the small blemishes. There was a tiny paint chip at the top of the leading edge of the rear passenger door and the rubber insert in the package area has a slight warp. And that's it. Having read some of the experiences where service scratched paint (for example) I am going to wait until there is something that truly needs correction. I have seen speculation that Shop vehicles might have been rejects, about rushes to get things out and have Service fix them - but our vehicle is excellent and we are very pleased.
And my wife LOVES the FE interior. She has very strong opinions of colors, stitching, wood trim, fit and finish - we did a first mile in a R1T last year that left her unimpressed - but she is extremely happy with our vehicle.
We took a road trip to Suncadia yesterday. I had pinged @SeattleClearBra early in the morning and en route we arranged for PPF this coming week - I think the calculated risk of taking a trip before protection will turn out ok <fingers crossed>.
A few more notes: We are on 2023.2.3 and "up to date" so not sure what to make of the 2023.6.2 thread. Connected to wi-fi, charged, <shrug>. The interior strap above the passenger doors is poorly located - should be on the A-pillar like our GX, and even in kneel mode I (6', wife 5'4") need a running board to keep from sliding over the edge of seat. I quickly ordered @EV Sportline running boards (estimating April delivery). The rear door access is a huge improvement over the narrow access of the R1T - something we both commented on during our First Mile. Played a bit with Driver+ - worked reasonably well for us on I90 in moderate traffic but it's going to take some getting used to since we've never had this kind of assist before. One oddity I noticed when matching the screen to what goes on around the car is that when a vehicle is slight ahead (passenger side) it shows, when it move exactly opposite it disappears, and then when it gets a bit back the yellow hashes appear on the screen and the mirror. Is this common? It just seems weird that it completely disappears when it is exactly opposite which I would have thought would be the easiest to report.
Finally, she loved the Gary image on the screen when she approached the car.
