1st time to use DCFC
So far on our 1000 + mile trip and charging now on 4th FC all have been Tesla.
1) I signed up to get a monthly membership with Tesla for discounted pricing. It’s a shame that Rivian doesn’t offer this for their customers or when using the Rivian chargers have a discounted rate like Tesla offers their customers.
That’s the reason I’m only using Tesla on this trip.
2) I’ve had two ghost windshield wiper occurrences so far.
3) using autonomy driving it doesn’t seem to like 18 wheelers very much. I’ve had a dozen of fast breaking or slowing down when approaching them on the freeway.
4) this economy driving is nice to give you a break but it’s very annoying since three seconds it populates keep your eyes looking ahead five seconds it chimes the same and this is annoying because you need to look at the screen for charging ports restaurants, etc. since that’s how you actually operate the car.
With that being said unless they change that annoying alert or give you an option to select the lawyers reading to turn it off I would not pay for it. I’m having it on my free trial now.
5) twice I’ve had to move to a different charging station and it says after 15 seconds remove charger cable try again, so I actually did that but still didn’t help so moved to another location
Another charging station stop charging had to remove cable and insert again it’s working fine now as I’m typing
6) All of the sudden out of the blue twice the brakes were hit or it’s slowed down rapidly, and populates, (engaging into all-wheel-drive?)
That was a little nerve-racking
7) a few times, mowers operating on or near the feeder of a freeway the R1T slowed down

this is only an update of what we encountered in the last day

To your first point/comment: All the Rivian chargers I have used did offer a discount to Rivian owners over non Rivian vehicles. Perhaps it wasn’t as significant as the Tesla discount. You don’t need to deal with the adapter either (assuming you don’t own a NACS Rivian). That is worth a few cents/kWh to me. And I’ll give my money to Rivian over Tesla anytime.

Yes
I meant the pricing on Rivian is around .48 for Rivian owners, and .62 for non Rivian.
I pay .33 with the 12.99 a month Tesla membership, regular for non Tesla .53
I believe my wife pays $.26 when she charges her Tesla at Tesla stations.
So you can see the pricing is double for Rivian charging for Rivian owners than Tesla chargers for Tesla owners

I do not need an adapter with Tesla, but I would need one with Rivian since I have a 2026 R1T

Since you have a Rivian and a Tesla, I am curious how well you felt the Rivian navigated to the Tesla chargers. Did it navigate you to only Tesla chargers that allow Rivians? Did it give you options for other types of chargers? Was it accurate in telling you about out of order chargers?

I only selected Tesla chargers since I purchased the membership for the month.
I did look at some Rivian chargers because i wanted to know their pricing.
The navigation planned out the trip and three of the nine chargers said to unplug replug and finally I had to move to another spot that happened about three times.
But the charging was quick once I was at a spot with no issues
Very pleased with the pricing and the amount of charging choices with Tesla
I’m new to this and this was the first fast charging experience I encountered since I’m a new owner and have about 3000 miles thanks to this 2000 mile trip
