2 road trips, 2 complete headlight system failures

Update as of 05Jan. SLC service center was unable to replicate the issue, so they are awaiting a visit from an engineer this week to further troubleshoot.
Defcon888 … I mentioned your case and to call the Sacramento service center, not sure if they will, but appreciate the insights.

Now we (continue) to wait.

After 11 days, R1S is due to arrive back this evening after 700 miles tow from SLC service center. After having and engineer come out, they were able to replicate and diagnose that it the headlight taillight failures were due to a faulty rain/light sensor that was incorrectly installed from the factory. Fingers crossed this won’t happen again and was just a fluke.

Needless to say, I will be doing some thorough testing with night drives before our next long road trip.

Hi, I have also been having issues with the windshield wiper/headlight stalk. Randomly last month my 8/2023 delivered R1S started acting up and the windshield wipers would automatically start activating and not stopping. I would have to put the car in park and then start driving again. This happened sporadically a couple of times but it has progressed now to the point of happening every time I start to drive the car. Now, the turn signals won’t work either when the windshield wipers are going berserk. I’ve given up trying to drive the car for the past several weeks.

They gave me a service center appt at Eastvale for 2 months out but moved it to one month and finally it’s coming up next week. I wonder if it’s related to your same faulty rain/light sensor as well.

I had a drivers side headlight failure, water made ingress into the headlight. It was about half full and was replaced under warranty.
