21" tires options

I'm reviving this thread as I'm switching from stock 21s to aftermarket 22s. Ideally, I'd like to keep my 21s for winter use with winter tires, if possible. It seems that the best option to more-or-less maintain the wheel diameter would be to use 315/45R21 winter tires. Has anyone tried this setup? From what I've read, 8.5" wide rims can handle tires up to 12.5" wide, so the 315/45R21 tires should fit the 21" rims. The main concern I have is whether there's enough fender clearance. Any insights?

Why not go 275/50/21? I think a few members here did that even most of those have 113 load index
