I notice a lot of great designs for various items getting posted here with their .stl files. What is your go to printer for those that design these items? I just don’t want to buy a random one. Thanks in advance.

Any of the Bambu printers. They are a bit more price wise but the absolute best hobby printers out there.

It isn't the printer so much that is OS dependent but the slicing software, I print with a Prusa, and use their software on my Mac, but they also have it for Windows.

Prusa or Bambu Labs. I have an Ender 3 V2 and hate it. Planning on switching to one of those two.

I have a BOSSDelta and a Lulzbot TAZ 6, both do a fine job. That said, I'm thinking the Bambu for my next one. The reviews I've seen for them are impressive.

Edit: And, I slice with Cura on a Mac.

I second anything by Bambu Labs. I have 4 of them now and produce everything on OpenSource EV with them, using ASA which is one of the hardest materials to print reliably. They are point and shoot, basically. Even my Kickstarter model (with 2500+ hours on it) has been relatively trouble free.

I'd recommend the P1S as the A1 has a pretty small build plate.

I had an Ender 3 prior, and I'd avoid that like the plague. Even the more recent models are slow and trouble prone. Getting a reliable, common 3D printer with a big community behind it is worth it's weight in gold. Troubleshooting otherwise is more difficult than rebuilding a carburetor.

My next printer will probably be the Creality K1 or K1 Max.

My Prusa Mini+ has been great once you learn the reality of 3D printing (proper setup, filament dryness, etc).

If I had to upgrade, I'd go Prusa XL/Mk4 or Bambu.

I have an Anycubic Mega S, using Cura slicer on a Mac. Gcode files are saved on an SD card.

I bought the Anycubic when I wasn’t sure if I’d like 3D printing or not. I paid $150 maybe and have put about that much more into it (fans, electronics) plus tinkering with the firmware/slicer settings and 3D printing its own accessories. I followed a video series on YouTube. It works great now but I wouldn’t go that route again. If this one ever breaks, I’m most likely going Bambu or Prusa.

I like Prusa, but they are expensive and I would like an enclosed printer for better thermal management. Creality has been around for a while making cheap printers and I like the new K1 designs and features. Bambu is a great option if cost is not a consideration.
