Hey all,

I keep getting an "improper tire size detected" when attempting to put my Gen 2 R1T in adaptive cruise control and Autonomy+ after changing tires to LT285/45/R22 Falcon Wildpeak A/T4W. TPMS were installed and showing up correctly.I tried putting in tire swap settings to 22" and all-terrains, but I can't get adaptive cruise control to engage. I know the tire size is slightly different than 22" OEM, but I wanted to reach out to see if there's anything to look into before just getting a different set.

Backstory/Sob Story
I was driving across the country and my two right tire sidewalls were punctured(OEM Pirelli Scorpion) in the middle of Bridger-Teton National Forest. It was towed back to a tire stop in Jackson. They recommended the tires above as they were in stock to get back on the road and said they've done a few tire swaps with these for a R1T before.

I was in a bit of a rush with my 14 year old dog in the back needing a procedure in NY to help with his breathing. Autonomy+ was available for a split second after rebooting from a tire swap(and stayed engaged the entire drive), but I'm looking for a more permanent solution now that we're back. 2200 miles(Jackson, WY to NY) without cruise control was not a great time!

All four tires replaced at the same time and with the same amount of miles on them? Have you also confirmed that all four are indeed 285/45R22?

TPMS has nothing to do with this. Wheel speed sensor is how a modern car knows one is spinning at rates within or outside of parameters, and compared to others. Size differentiation, beyond permissible tolerance, is flagged by software as a fault.

Your decision to choose a non-factory-standard size could also be at fault... especially if there isn't a software profile for that size or you are not on a software profile that is equivalent to it. Never take a tire salesmen's word. All they are after is the commission. It's extra money on top of their low hourly wage.

Stock size is 32.8". 285/45R22 is 32.1".

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, all four tires were replaced with Falcon Wildpeaks as that was the closest they had in stock at the time to get back on the road asap. I assumed the answer would be size differentiation and nothing could be done, but I just wanted to check.

What did you change the tire profile to in vehicle settings? Did you try a hard reset? Did you check each tire to make sure they are all 285/45R20? TPMS only measure tire pressure. Nothing else. And if it's like most cars, the wheel speed sensor (aka ABS sensor) is in the hubs, a probe and a ring of magnets.

I put in all-terrain aftermarket tires for the swap, but also tried off road and just all-seasons. All tires are the same 285/45/R22 size.

Hard reset and tire swap reboot only works once to engage UHF and seems to block it when I try to engage it a second time.

Unfortunate, but I would try a set of tires that match factory size of 275/50R22 and see what happens.
