This message just popped up in the middle of a bright, but cold (10° F) day.

Seems odd given the headlights aren't even on.

Hard reset (recommended by Rivian chat) cleared the message.

Hopefully it stays clear.

I had a similar issue plus a message popping up stating driver assistance is unavailable. Those messages got cleared with soft and hard reset. But the driver assistance unavailable message kept coming back at random intervals. Rivian diagnosed this as a hardware failure for the driver assitance function and are replacing it. FYI.

I kept getting same message every time headlights turned on, on my last drive. about 4-5 times. I had just done hard reset yesterday for driver assistance related issues. Put in a service request, as that’s what the message suggests doing, so we’ll see how quickly they can fix it…

I’m having the same issue. The adaptive high beam error happens repeatedly, despite resetting. The adaptive cruise control/highway assist (along with sensor failures) just happened yesterday. Fixed with a reset, but no telling if it will happen again. Service looked at the high beam issue and thought it could be the sensor failing or the external SSD I’m using for Gear Guard. (I’m using the Samsung T7 Shield recommended by many). They said they think USB connected SSD seem to cause these issues while direct plugged flash drives work without issue. Not sure I follow the logic. Would love to know if anyone has run into (and resolved this). Perhaps deserves its own thread.

I had done infotainment reset, followed by hazard lights reset, and that seems to have curbed my issue (for now).

I have no idea how/why SSD connected to USB would impact the highway assist and adaptive high beams, unless the drive cam recorder writing to the SSD is lowing down the processing of the video streams for the highway assist and adaptive high beams. However, AFAIK, the mobile eye system should be responsible for those assistive features, so it shouldn’t be tied to the drive recorder video streams…

It happened to me too, they combined my spare tire mobile service ticket with this request so we will see what they find. Too bad, I love that feature. I also had the lane centering warning come one once but it has not returned after the car went through a sleep cycle.

Update, my adaptive headlights started working again today after I washed the car! I could see where a dirty front end might be an issue but it was no more than normal road grime on there and all other sensors seemed to be working, in so far as I came back from a 30 mile drive with driver assist working fine.

I hope this is just a software bug with 2024.47. I got the adaptive headlights unavailable again today. But followed the trick of just toggling the setting in the settings menu. That did reenable it and it worked on backroads later in the drive.

I did have to do the “trick” 2-3 times during the drive. I think it has been the same locations too. Maybe something tripping it up. About what’s at that location.

I've had the "adaptive high beams not working" error twice in the last two days. I've also had the ADAS unavailable error (can't remember the exact terminology) a handful of times in the last two months. Every time, a hard reset (using the hazard button) fixed it, but it's annoying that it happens so often and, because the vehicle needs to be parked for the reset, is annoying when it crops up in the middle of a trip.

I'm hopeful that a software update will quash these bugs but, the ADAS one at least, has persisted through the last two updates.

Yay fixed in 2024.51!!

  • Fixed a rare issue that prevented Adaptive High Beams from working due to a false failure.
  • Fixed a rare issue that resulted in the unavailability of driver assistance features after a vehicle wake and required a vehicle reset to recover.

Ooooh! I've had this! My adaptive lights fully failed otw home from delivery in the dark no less due to cold weather. Apparently some of the adaptive chipsets are not functioning in cold conditions. Once cold if they slightly warm up they fail. Mine had to get replaced with a set that passed cold weather QC. It took 3 weeks but they have been working great since the replacement.
