I noticed after I lock my R1S and when I come back to my car after a few minutes, I unlock the vehicle and the air is blowing super hard. It seems like a glitch. I brought it to Rivian and they couldn’t replicate it. This happens quite frequently. Anyone knows why it does this?

It's not a glitch. It's working as designed. My 2023 Gen 1 does it occasionally.

FYI, typing the first sentence from your post into Google would've gotten you the full answer...

This behavior is a known, intentional feature of the Rivian R1S designed to manage cabin comfort and vehicle health, rather than a malfunctioning fan.
Based on user experiences and discussions, this "super hard" air blowing is caused by one of two things:
1. Evaporator Drying ("After-Blow"): After you stop driving, the car runs the fan at high speed to dry out the HVAC evaporator core. This removes moisture from the system to prevent mold, mildew, and the resulting musty smells, a standard practice in many modern vehicles.
2. Automatic Cabin Ventilation: Rivian vehicles have a feature (enabled by default) that automatically blows ambient air into the cabin to prevent extreme, high-temperature buildup when parked, particularly on warm days.
Key Observations:
1. Duration: The fan usually runs for a few minutes after the vehicle is locked.
2. Behavior: The fan speed often drops back down as soon as you open the door.
3. Status: It is a normal, programmed behavior that may feel alarming but is intended to protect the system.
If you find this disruptive, you can check your Rivian mobile app for settings related to Auto Cabin Ventilation to turn it off, though the evaporator drying mechanism is generally automatic.

You want this to happen. Early Rivian’s had an issue with the evaporator drain getting clogged and leading to electrical bricking. Some time in 2025 Rivian added the high fan blow out with a software update after parking to clear the drain and reduce the risk for this issue.
