I’ve had good luck skipping vent clips and just using a small scent pouch tucked in the center console since nothing has to clamp onto the software‑controlled vents. Earthy or woody scents seem to mix best with the cabin. If you want ideas on what actually clears stubborn smells, the article at https://nothingbutscents.com/blogs/product-guides-tips/how-to-remove-smoke-smells-from-a-room gives some solid pointers and scent styles that work well in cars too.

I’ve also used the charcoal bags. I think those work pretty well for absorbing odors. I just bought one of these Drift air fresheners that clip on the visor after reading a ton of reviews. It’s essentially just a small block of wood soaked in natural oil. Smells terrific, but I have only been using it for a week so I can’t comment on how long it lasts. They also sell a vent version, other options…

I use bio-bombs. Just used the vehicle deodorization kit last night on my wife's car and then put in an air freshner bar afterwards. I spilled coffee like an idiot with some cream and it helped out tremendously.

Our 23 R1S delivered on 7/31/23 still has a new car scent.

The vinyl...er, vegan leather, still smells like when it was new,

The vent clip kind works great on the rear vents as they are not mechanical. Been using them there since day 1.

Air fresheners just mask the smells in your car. I suggest an ozone machine to get rid of the smells. It will also kill mold spores. Run it for an hour with the AC on full blast in recirculate mode. Machine also works magic on kitchen odors, odors in your RV, etc.

First started using ozone machines when I bought an '08 M3 demo that was supposedly manager driven and pristine. Flew into St. Louis to buy it from Suntrup BMW. It wreaked of heavy cigar smoke and had rail dust imbedded everywhere in the white paint. No amount of interior detailing would get the smell out. Ozone machine killed it on the first try. The rail dust took an experienced detailer with aggressive clay. First detailer couldn't get it out and neither could I.

We have this one and it's very powerful.
