I took mine to two different service centers and neither one could fix it. However, both of them pre-ordered the USB hub as a potential solve. Unfortunately, neither one of them actually replaced the USB hub! I am waiting for the new Sterling service center to open so I can try to force a USB HUB change there. I have called Rivian and informed them of my displeasure, but it probably goes nowhere. As a long-time original Tesla owner I am used to these types of issues - but you’re right. Shouldn’t be so hard.

ok so you might be onto something. When they did the deep diagnostic, they said that they were seeing USB errors. The fact that you bring this up tells me this actually might be the issue. Do you think I ask them to replace the USB hub? They didn’t have a solve for these errors but sounds like this may be the issue

Well, I am certainly no expert. I’ve met. I was very surprised when they both told me that while they ordered it, they did not install it and when I asked why they really didn’t have a good reason for why. The tech told me everything routes through there associated with sound, so I would think it would be a logical location for investigation.

Has anyone else noticed that while music is glitching, the rest of the dash screen is also stuttering? The video of my mirrors also stutters as well as frame rate of the other cars the Rivian is sensing also moves slower? It's almost like there's not enough CPU power to compute the data which is very weird. To me, this happens alot when there are lots of other cars moving around me and it's overwhelmed.

Joelle I have not noticed that, but will check. I find that it’s most repeatable in slow, decelerating left turns.

I agree that it seems to happen most often during rush hour or when you have Nav and a turn signal on or when there is a lot of traffic. Almost seems like there's not enough memory or CPU power to do everything that is being asked of the Rivian. I'm not sure when it started, but it had to be at least a couple updates ago. I'm thinking around May. Before that I never had issues with Amazon Music.

I experience the same. It's more glitchy with turn signals, traffic alerts, other notifications.

This is not a service center issue. This is 100% a software issue for what seems to be Gen 1 vehicles only. Not sure if the update in May had something that is causing a memory issue or if Gen 2 Riv's have a better CPU, but this was not an issue before the May update. You'd hope the engineers could figure that out.

Of course maybe this is their subtle way to try and get Gen 1 owners to upgrade to a new vehicle.

It’s happening to plenty of Gen 2 owners as well. Mine’s a 2025 R1S and it’s been going on since the day I got the car back in March…

For me it 100% started with the 2025.10 release which started pushing in early April.

Hope this is not wishful thinking, but it seems that the new SW update (2025.34.30) may have fixed my Amazon Music glitch. I’ve only put an hour on it, but it was smooth and glitch-free. HOWEVER, the music keeps playing after I walk away from the car. It was still playing when I returned. I can, of course, just pause it when I exit the vehicle. I’ll trade that for the glitching anytime. Anyone else confirm this fix?

Have only driven once so far with the latest SW update (2025.34.30) and the results are positive. Multiple stops and starts of the vehicle and Amazon music did not skip.

:fingerscrossed:

Seemingly less glitchy but still significant drop outs in areas with high cell data usage where Amazon Music has always struggled for me (yet Tidal does not). so possibly back to pre 2025.10 behavior. I'm wondering if Tidal is better with dynamic bandwidth management than Amazon Music, or if Amazon Music is streaming at a higher bitrate with no dynamic adjustment for network saturation?

I had basically given up on Amazon Music in the R1S and switched over to Tidal. One thing I've noticed about Tidal is that I can put a playlist I have with about 2400 tracks on shuffle play and it always picks up where it leaves off when I park, even overnight (or 2 nights actually). I've been driving around for a couple of weeks now without having to mess with the media apps at all (outside of my testing of Amazon Music after the latest update) which has been really nice. With Amazon Music, I would have to tell Alexa to "Play my Music" every time I get in the car (except after short stops such as to get groceries) which was kind of annoying.
