it is an accurate statement to say I will end up with $3000 less because I made a custom order opposed to selecting the same vehicle configuration from the shop. I get no preferences like timing on delivery, etc. It is silly in my mind to think this market would support higher prices…so I should not be thankful for that!!!

Coupons have terms and conditions. The only bias here is yours. As I said I’m in the exact same position you are in so you really have nothing to stand on.

@trimotormusthave, can you take some of that energy and make a persuasive argument for your position with Rivian?

Points I get out of this are:
(1) If the Shop vehicle is that close to your specifications, why didn't they offer it as fulfillment of your custom order?
(2) If you're going to wait for your custom ordered VIN, when they're releasing vehicles you love to others first (and unnecessarily delaying fulfillment on your order), what can they give you as a goodwill gesture? For instance, is there a color upgrade or vehicle/trim upgrade that you had agreed to pay extra for, that they could give you for free instead?

Sometimes they can't give you a "cash discount," but the person you're talking to might have the authority to take a paid upgrade and make it free as a "goodwill adjustment." Same dollar savings, just different rationales, authorities, and terminology.

I hate to see you and the other forum participants using negative energy, in a setting where nobody has authority to give you what you want. Nothing good happens to you, or to the Forum community, with the current discussion stalemate.
