2025 Rivian R1T - Large. Delivered on November 23, 2024.

We spent part of the weekend in Connecticut, and yesterday got on I-395 heading Northbound. I noticed one... then another... and another... and another Rivian Amazon delivery vans heading Southbound! It became a game; "Count the vans!". We hit 20 before we found the on ramp (exit 28) where the vans were getting onto the freeway from a distribution center; then we got into formation with about a half dozen more ahead of us going North.

No gas powered Amazon vans anywhere; just the EV's.

Very cool!

Proof they've sold at least 21 of them.

I've seen about 10 of them coming out from near one of the local Rivian service centers. I assume Amazon has some kind of fleet yard nearby.

What I really want to see are more non-Amazon vons, even personal-owned ones.

It must be regional or something. I've been seeing multiple EDVs every single day for several years now -- they're no longer a curiosity in Southern California, they're just Amazon delivery vans.

Must be regional, 8 out of every 10 Amazon vans in Houston are EDV's. Can't recall the last time I've seen a gas one.

I hear the symphony of crinkling ting washers and loose half-shafts as they make their way through the neighborhood.

Hopefully they’ll open up the small EDV to general public for purchase. Would make for a cool work, camping, travel vehicle.
Once they've fulfilled whatever number Amazon has committed to buy and isn't extending the contract... It'll probably happen. As is, van sales are already surpassing R1T sales. And without additional production capacity—and capital investment to expand production—I don't see any motivation to sell more than they are able to make.

I see them all the time here in the San Francisco Bay Area. They are the default Amazon vehicle. If you happen to be at the right spot/time at 237 and 880 you can catch a whole bunch of them coming out of the warehouse in a row.
