Congrats! Hope they gave you a lot of money for that FJ. Those are going for insane prices on auction sites these days. A friend of mine sold his for more than he bought it (used) for 4 years ago.

I spied the delivery guys staging about 10 minutes before our appointment just around the corner. They were giving the glass one last buff making sure everything was shiny.

First time seeing Rivian Blue up close and in person. It's not exactly what we expected from any photos but quite stunning. And sun, shadows, overcast are all a little different and amazing.

We had a little bit of paperwork to do. Wet signatures required for title application, power of attorney, and the trade-in title. They said they had to remove the plate from our trade-in, which seemed odd until I realized it's an IL transaction not a WA one.

We set up our apps and driver profiles. Found two minor bugs during the process. The first is some placeholder text on the range projection interface (it's using what appears to be placeholder text, not the actual installed wheel type). The second was a little more irksome. Our wifi password has an apostrophe -- a normal, non-directional apostrophe. But the pop-up keyboard only offers an opening quote shaped apostrophe. So it's not currently connected to wifi until I create it its own SSID as a temporary workaround. So there's that... In all fairness, these are minor things and the guys who were here took detailed notes and photos to report back and get it fixed.

Let's see... set up was pretty painless. Played with the screen a bit. The charging pad is fussy, especially with the camera bump on my iPhone. But without CarPlay, I'm pretty sure we'll be looking for some kind of vent/window/dash mount for the driver's phone anyways. Didn't play with USB connection of any phones and didn't really mess with music yet. Bluetooth implementation had contacts, music controls, etc. -- all the features you'd expect from Bluetooth packaged in a well-made UI. We did not enable Alexa.

We took it for a quick spin. The truck floats over the potholes in all purpose mode. Our test drive was in the rain, so today we got to actually gun it getting onto the highway. The giggle is involuntary. And apparently it was holding back 20% of the torque because we weren't in sport mode.

We took some delivery pictures and then the guys drove off in the FJ (only one of the two could drive stick -- good thing he was there :CWL:).

I’m curious if the Washington customers doing trade-ins through Rivian still get the value of the trade off their sales tax liability. I know that is a typical upside to doing a trade in but hoping that Rivian doing the deal from out of state doesn’t negate that benefit.

Awww...Thanks Brice. I was sort of gone for awhile mainly because once Rivian gave us our delivery time frames I felt like I could relax and didn't need to constantly check the forum for any little tidbit or news. It made it much easier to wait. Then the price roller-coaster "fustercluck" happened and I was in shock with nothing more to add to what was already being expressed. Now that things are looking up, I'm excited again and checking back with the forum more often. Love seeing people getting their R1Ts.
I must say that waiting to get my R1T has almost been as exciting as waiting to have a baby. But, instead of waiting for 9mos. it's been a 3+yrs. That's one HUGE baby!!!

We've owned it for 10 years and took a whopping $3000 in depreciation on the sale.

Yes, property traded in reduces the tax.

Nice truck. Congrats. Thanks for the summary of your experience. Seems pretty pain free.

Congratulation! Love the Rivian Blue!

I’m interested in that Sprinter photo you have with the solar panels, how is camping in that? Looks awesome!
It's a beast. We converted it ourselves. Took about a year of funemployment to hit all 50 states (flew to Hawaii for completeness) with a focus on National Parks (and a great winter of chasing the snow across the western states). We started with Alaska and the Dalton for summer, spent most of fall touring the desert southwest, winter in the mountains, and spring into summer for the Midwest and east coast.

It's a 170" wheelbase 4x4 Sprinter. I'm 6'1" and can stand inside. Permanent bed (no daily tetris) and galley with induction stove, sink. We tapped the diesel tank for heat but everything else is electric (400Ah of battleborns with 900W of solar and a 2000W inverter). It's currently undergoing a bit of renovations, and we'll probably be parting ways with it once we're done.

You might look at listing it on the PNWSprinter4x4 group on Facebook when you are ready.

@timesinks I noticed you have a JuiceBox instead of a Rivian charger. Any reason why you decided to go with that instead of the Rivian charger?
I didn't go with the Rivian charger because we have two and I wanted them to be in a load sharing configuration.
