my wife's lexus has had a full length crack horizontal below the field of vision for 5 years, there's no way in hell I'd replace the rivian winshield just for a crack unless it was in the field of vision....some folks replacing it for a rock chip mutliple times have more ocd than I do for sure

You can be issued a citation for a cracked windshield if the crack is big enough. Some people want to avoid reasons to get pulled over.

Not in Texas, if it’s not in the field of Vision it’s legal but perhaps other states are different

In WI, any crack over 3" I believe is illegal. I could have the length wrong, but I know it's illegal there.
