So, dropped our R1S at the Rivian certified bodyshop near our closest Rivian SC. When I left it there, I made the mistake of handing them the key card from my wallet without trying it before I left. Of course, when I got to work about 75 miles away, I get a call that the key card is not working. I remotely opened the car and it didn't work from inside either. Called service and they recommended that I deactivate the card and then reactivate it again. Then hold it near the sensor for an extended time. Still didn't work. They said if it didn't work, the sensor in the car is bad or the key card. Wife used her key card at a valet a few weeks ago with no issues, so that rules that out.

Anybody have a keycard suddenly go bad? Will it demagnatize like a credit card or RiFD card?

Car will now remain in the parking lot until I can drop off the key FOB tomorrow.

I bought my R1T used and ordered key cards (as it only came with a fob). When the service center went to program them they found they wouldn't work so replaced the handle. Has worked fine since.

Thanks... I they are taking it to Rivian for an alignment, so maybe I can coordinate them looking at the key card issue.

1. Did they try the passenger door? Do they have a sensor over there?

2. Leaving it in the charging pad can fry the RFID, that's why I'm careful to never put my CAC on there.

They tried outside the door and it didn't open so I opened it remotely. They then tried inside the door like depicted on the back of the card and it wasn't recognized.

I do put my wallet on the charge pad, since it is worthless to charge the phone. Makes sense that it would fry the card...?

Oooooo be careful, it may hit other RFIDs in there too. Avoid the fob as well.

Mine worked fine for 6 months. One day it stopped working. Mobile service came out and replaced handle and it has worked great since then.

Ended up being a bad key card. Wife drive the body shop today with her key card and that worked fine. Even the wristband worked without issue.

Is their any kind of warranty on these cards?

One of mine died this week. Left wife stuck and yelling down the phone at me until I was able to set up access on her phone... Looking online seems it's common with various car brands that use these cards - BMW, Volvo etc. The microcell battery in the card gets too hot or bent and ruptures - you can see the bubble top right here. Car is only a few months old so seeing if there's any warranty on the cards now...
