Kinda sucks not to get no Rivian love in Huntsville. At the same time thinking positive the day will come….. even if it is t until second half of 2023 lol.

Thought I would be down with a 10 min drive.

I was also late to order and have a tentative R1S delivery window of October-December 2023. : (

Better late than never, though. In any event, I decided to drive the 1.5 hours from where I live to the Venice Hub just to check it out in person. I'm thrilled I did for a few reasons:

First, while I was there and getting an in-depth demo in one of the parked vehicles, I mentioned my delivery date and that I couldn't *wait* to drive one, and the rep booked me for a test drive 2 weeks later. Sure, I had drive ANOTHER 1.5 hours (a total of 3 hours for two round trips) for a 20 minute test drive, but WOW was it worth it. The R1S was extraordinary in almost every way. My point is that if you live near a Hub and go for a visit, you should ask if they have any unbooked test drive appointments. They probably do, and if so they will let you book one. The test drive was a real thrill (and I owned a dual motor Model 3, so I'm no stranger to EVs), seeing the R1S drive modes (including the height adjustments) up close was jaw dropping, and experiencing some of the things people often complain about (such as the A/C vents, turn signal sound, Bluetooth, cabin noise, etc.) confirmed that I don't share ANY such concerns. The whole experience was just fantastic.

Second (and unrelated to this thread), looking at the R1S (and R1T) up close is amazing, and confirmed for me that I am 100% certain I want a R1S. I also test drove the F-150 about two months ago, and although I loved it, I loved the Rivian far more. The Hub experience was especially fantastic because looking at the wheel options up close is helpful and far more useful than looking at photos. Same for the interior and exterior color options.

Finally, as an aside, I was certain I wanted Compass Yellow, but after visiting and seeing the colors up close realized I preferred White or Limestone. After returning for the test drive two weeks later, I drove a White R1S that they said was "closest to my configuration that they had." It was great, but I got to see (although not drive) a Limestone R1S up close. That sealed the deal for me; I switched my color to Limestone and don't even mind if my delivery window slips as a result.
