When you buy a car out-of-state you generally pay the dealer the sales tax and the dealer sends the revenue to your home state, but there are exceptions. Check out this articleDoes this mean I can take out of state delivery and avoid sales tax?
Hey that’s my tweet! Recently joined here and happy to have contributed long before then!Update 3/25/19:
@krcossin has posted the "something special" that Rivian had mentioned preorderers would be receiving - it's a signed letter by RJ Scaringe and a design sketch print.

Rivian previously said that all preorders would be receiving a special package in the new year. Has anyone received anything yet? I keep checking my mail.
Any guesses what the gift could be?
Yes you pay either sales or use tax. When you buy a car out-of-state you generally pay the dealer the sales tax and the dealer sends the revenue to your home state, but there are exceptions. Check out this article

Congrats on your R1T. Just to relieve any possible confusion, you only ordered the truck. The battery is what you’d like to order given the opportunity when the configurator goes live.I ordered my R1T 135kWh in 22 Oct 2019. I haven't seen any swag, yet...
They send them out in batchesOh! Okay. Good to know! So the so called gift/swag will take a few more months?! Thanks!
