As some know, this is my third Rivian. Despite a few technical hiccups in my current R1S, it has still been a lot of fun to drive. However, a while back, my wife has pointed out something a little concerning. Every time I get into any Rivian, i develop a small cough. I realized I start building up phlegm in the back of my throat. When I get out of the Rivian, it goes away after a couple minutes. I’m starting to wonder if it’s off gassing from the vegan leather. Rivian is the first vehicle I’ve owned that has had it. When I think back, I had this cough in my original R1T as well. I had no issues with the Raptor before it.

I’m just curious if anyone rose has experienced this.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
The off-gassing in the '25 S was intense - gave me a headache. Significantly less so in both the G1 and G2 Ts. I don't feel experience allergic issues at all in the T, and my commute is about an hour each way.

The plastic “leather” certainly could be an issue when new, but seems unlikely to still be a problem after years. Have you changed the cabin air filter?

Trees starting late January to mid April. But no problems if I do nasal rinses and dope with nasal cromolyn.

I'm quite sensitive to VOCs, etc and HATE new car smell and new materials off-gassing, etc. Never had any issues at the start of the Gen 1 T back in '23, and nothing since. The only other Rivian I've been in was a test drive last year (just for fun) of the Gen 2 quad, didn't notice anything there either.
