Just to close the loop and share my experience. I just received the Quebec license plate. The process wasn’t too bad, just too many steps between the federal and provincial requirements. The export/import was easy as long as you follow the steps. The provincial inspection took a little while to schedule but otherwise was fine. The car passed the inspections without any modifications required.

Interested to hear of anyone has imported an R1T into BC. If so how was the process. I have imported a couple of cars from the USA in the past, but never a newer vehicle. Cheers

Did anyone end up importing a Rivian into Canada? If yes, did it require any modifications? Did you need to bring it to the Vancouver Service Center in order to get the Canada Update? I am getting conflicting information from Rivian Service.

Yes I imported my truck last summer (moved from the US) and I didn’t need anything from Rivian. Passed both federal and provincial inspections. See my previous posts.

Thank you for the information. I suspected that might have been the case, but I've also read of some people in this forum that did have issues passing the RIV inspection. So the USA R1s have daytime running lights that meet the Canadian regulations?

Yes. No issues. I think some people are speculating. As long as you follow the proper process everything should go smoothly. At least that was my experience.

@RivianNE did you have to pay PST when importing your Rivian?

Reading this it seems that a 6000km+ car would be exempt?

Haven’t had to pay any taxes since I was moving to Canada as a new immigrant.

@RivianNE did you need a "Manufacturer's Statement of Origin or Certificate of Origin"?
