It’s reasons such as these I don’t want CarPlay in Rivian. Rivian really needs to be able to have full control of their software to keep it consistent. Otherwise we’re at the mercy of other companies.
My Rivian was in the shop (AGAIN) and I used my wife's new Prius. I had CarPlay up and running in under 60 seconds and it worked great the whole time. It's fine if Rivian doesn't want to use it but from a simplicity point of view it's much better and cohesive.

I had a Jeep Compass rental last week from Hertz during a trip to Colorado and spent a fair amount of time driving so I set up CarPlay. It was another painful experience using CarPlay.

Yes, Rivian needs to have full control of the stack.
Maybe it was the Jeep but CarPlay takes about a minute and a half to setup max. I don't mind Rivian controlling the experience but so far that experience is extremely sub par. Last three drives Apple Music worked once! Rivian just does not have the software experience yet to get this right. I hope that changes before I give up on them.

This is all I've seen for the past week (pre and post update)
I saw this today. I believe this is due to weak internet connectivity since it happened in my driveway where I often experience this when switching from my home WiFi to LTE.

Set up was not the issue, it set up quickly. It worked for a few hours and then would start having issues such as Apple Maps locking up and Spotify unresponsive on the Jeep screen While continuing to play music. I had to unpair at least once a day once a day.

Rivian infotainment needs improvements, but my experience with Apple Car Play over the years has not been any better than Rivian.

When I went to the truck the other day, the Music App just showed "No Content Available." I did a soft reset and that still didn't fix the issue. A short while later I remembered that I had to change my Apple Password and I then figured it must be a permissions issue.

It's pretty sad software when it won't even tell you there's an authentication issue and to log out/in.
This is what got me too. Thanks for posting!

And I totally agree the UI should at least give an error msg or some indication it had a User authentication issue.

I was not an Apple Music subscriber before the Rivian integration... been using the Free Trial period to give it a try. No joy! Just canceled the trial subscription - just don't see any advantage over Spotfiy and too buggy on the Rivian for consistent ease of listening.

Music is working just fine in my R1S. Running the latest software. Kids love it.

I’m in Canada and have poor cell service near my house.

The odd time I have to hit the play button again to get it playing music. Not sure if that is because it comes to the end of an album or what.

I get the no internet connection message and the Home Screen just won’t load. Spotify works just fine and the internet connection is fine. Logged out of Apple Music on Rivian and back in. Same thing. Worked better for me before this update

But, not having CarPlay is what is causing this issue. I’ve not seen many complaints about Apple music on. CarPlay…
$100 says you're not an engineer lol.. Having Apple CarPlay isn't going to solve every problem. In reality, it could very well create others.

I get this quite a bit. It's pretty consistent even with a decent signal.

I take PayPal and Venmo.
Real talk, are you unemployed? Because only a terrible engineer would suggest that integrating a stack that a company has no control over would solve the current issues.

I think your anger and narrow view of what an “engineer” is clouds you. If you want “real talk.”

Plus my comment was that you won’t have issues with Apple Music on CarPlay. Other manufactures have pulled off their own system and CarPlay. Maybe they are just super awesome at integrating stacks lol.
