Didn't Tesla do exactly that like 2 yrs ago? I honestly think Rivian should do the same. I've never used the one I carry in the frunk so don't even know if it works.

Some chargers in Europe require you to use your own cable. I don't remember the details but it makes sense to me. You own and maintain your own cable. No interaction with abused and gross cable, touched by god-knows-who (or what). Plug both ends in and charge. Would probably cut down vandalism by some margin too.

That's different from the mobile charger Rivian supplies us but, yes, I agree that's a smart way to approach L2 destination chargers. Unfortunately not currently applicable for DC charging to prevent stories like this.

I would solve the problem by super glueing an Android tablet on the screen ?. On a serious note, if someone can do a flip up/down android tablet, that may be pretty good. Or one of those transparent OLED screens we were promised a decade back.

What makes you all think that Apple is going to buy Rivian tech? Perhaps it's the other way around ...

Apple could probably benefit greatly from unloading a bunch of stuff they amassed during Project Titan that they no longer need. I think it would be stupid for them to get into the low-margin automotive business when they could just sell of some of their accumulated assets (including designs and hardware IP) keep their software IP, then license that software to all comers.

That said, 'Where the Streets Have No Name' and 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' are pretty much on brand for Rivian's built-in navi.

My prediction: this thread is going to be 100 pages long of speculation before anything gets officially announced.

After which, we will learn that the “collaboration” entailed just renaming Rivian Guides -> Rivian Geniuses, the new steering wheel will have an Action button, and the R3 will be coming in pastel colors.

Maybe even an "Escape" key
