All this talk of efficiency - Anybody know how did the EPA measure their results? With or without the tonneau?
I'm sure with tonneau but on a dyno with a correction factor applied to represent drag as well as other factors so it wouldn't really apply to the discussion.

From the Consumer Reports study:

“With the tailgate up and no tonneau, we got 22.3 mpg. Dropping the tailgate decreased efficiency to 21.5 mpg.…

We found that covering the bed with a soft tonneau cover was even more detrimental, dropping fuel economy to 21.4 mpg.”

Would you feel comfortable hauling a 70inch plus oled in the back with straps but no cage extender?
A 77” OLED tv has a box length of about 75”, so even with a bed extender of some sort, the straps would do all the work.

Anyone figure out any solutions to accomplish a bed extension?

That canvas solution looks pretty sweet! I still like the idea of a traditional flip-over bed extender for looser loads (e.g. a bunch of boxes or firewood), especially if it could play nice with the tonneau cover. The smaller compartment it creates when stowed is a nice bonus. Hopefully the aftermarket provides at some point.

Agreed. Still no cage options I take it?

I am curious if those of you who use this Loadd canvas extension are happy with the system? I need something to haul 12 ft boards or a 13 ft kayak. I was considering the T-bone, Erickson, or Yakima hitch mounts which appear to be solid, but also take up more space. Comments appreciated if you have experience in the R1T with any of these.
