Let’s hope the road expansion will happen soon. This is one main reason to move me from getting a refreshed Model Y to a R1S. I really love to own R1S long term but don’t want to miss out the robust assisted driving features provided by basic/enhanced autopilot.

Didn’t Rivian specifically say that autonomous driving was not a focus?

My understanding is that Rivian is still at the development stage of making lane centering work great on highway thus they will not have anything available in the near term to compete with Tesla's FSD at all. In terms of assisted driving development, they are like Tesla in 2017, of course FSD shouldn't be a focus because it took Tesla many years to get to today's supervised Full Self Driving from having only great lane centering capabilities.
