I’ve never had this bad of an issue with Bluetooth music cutting in and out from likely kitty interference in any of my cars. I can predictably drive through neighborhoods or stoplight areas and my Bluetooth streamed music will get all choppy.
Anyone else have this issue or is it just me?

I have this same issue. And like you, I can reproduce it in various exact locations.

My first R1 (2025 Gen2) had this issue, and it'd happen a LOT. I never thought about it being location specific, though. Interesting point.

We just traded up for a max pack last month, and I've predominantly been using Spotify. I'll listen to some more bluetooth audio this weekend to see if it's still there. The minimal amount I've used it so far didn't catch my attention for the skipping/interference scenarios.

As a slight aside, when I first looked into this problem last year, I started to wonder if the phone itself was to blame. I found it'd happen more often when I had other apps open that also leverage bluetooth or NFC capability. I did try closing those apps leaving only a bluetooth media source running (i.e. YouTube Music) and it seemed to help, but never fully went away. This is on an iPhone 16 by the way.

Sounds like it's not a BT problem, but a cellular streaming problem. Try local media in the same places.

WiFi and Bluetooth share the same unlicensed frequency band (ISM) as well as other random devices. It could be a high power WIFI signal in the area that is overloading the Bluetooth receiver causing the drop outs. Think of it like staring into the sun. Bluetooth will try to hop around to find a quieter frequency but that can't stop extreme interference.

Possible and extremely unlikely, as in, nearly impossible.

I'm not going to engage in any arguments about this. There are a multitude of scientifically controlled experiments that well document these issues. The design of the receiver front end is a major factor in how interference manifests itself. Here's just one controlled study. There are many. You can choose to believe it is nearly impossible it but it does not change the facts that it happens.

"This report extensively examines the coexistence of three wireless technologies, Wi-Fi, ZigBee, and BLE, operating within the 2.4 GHz ISM band. The study thoroughly investigates all potential interactions, encompassing variables such as transmission power, distances, data rates, and the utilization 25 of co-channel or adjacent channels. In summary, the evaluation of performance metrics (specifically throughput and PER) for each of these technologies indicates that the operation of both ZigBee and BLE is noticeably compromised when coexisting with Wi-Fi within the same frequency spectrum. ZigBee registered a high throughput drop of 65.5% and PER between 4.3 and 27.1%, while BLE showed a throughput drop of 41.29% and PER between 2 and 9% in the presence of Wi-Fi. Though effective in an interference-free environment, the FHSS or AFH technique BLE uses is inefficient when multiple Wi-Fi channels coexist. As seen in our experiment, the performance of BLE was not impaired by ZigBee unless external interference from Wi-Fi existed, which is typical in home, office, or industrial spaces. Furthermore, when these transceivers operate on short distances, within 2 to 10 feet, there is a slight variation in performance. In addition, the presence of ZigBee and BLE has a negligible impact on the performance of Wi-Fi. Our intended future work will be to expand on the obtained results and conduct more test scenarios under different environments and provide a solution for the coexistence of all three technologies in the same vicinity."

Yes, that's what I said.

OP should look at the more obvious and likely problems.

This happens to me a lot too. It's one of my few complaints about the truck, but it's serious enough that a fix (or lack thereof) will be a consideration in my next vehicle purchase. I don't want to fully re-hash my prior complaints, but I despise streaming services and it's important to me to have options to play the music I own.

It is very location specific for me as well. It's incredibly bad in my garage and near my house. There's also parts of my residential neighborhood that seem worse than others.

I'm not qualified to opine on wifi interferance, but it seems plausible. I might try turning off the vehicle hotspot and see if that influences behavior at all.

I'm confident it's not a cell streaming problem, as it happens with locally stored media on my phone.

Which is different from what OP said and hasn't followed up on that detail.

I also wonder whether phone models matter. Back when I had both an Android and an iPhone, I had more BT connection issues with the Android, by a lot. (It would just fail to connect when getting in the car, but not audio quality issues like this.)

Mine gets choppy as well when streaming from a cell signal. The only place I can reliably reproduce it is when I use the truck to open my garage door.
