Are you sure about that road up from the river there near the end? That's the only part of the route I would question.

That’s the part I’m definitely NOT SURE about. From a distance, that trail looks way sketchy. If we get to the base, we can certainly turn around out and go back out the way we came in!

I don't think the section you've identified after the dam is a road. I'm not even sure you can cross the dam.

I'll be out there for the holiday but will be driving back Saturday, so I'll miss this by a day. Have fun with the vehicles and getting to know each other!

Not that I'm aware of. No plans to cross regardless.
My poor eyesight made me think the route crossed the dam! My bad.

I was there back in May. No, you can't cross the dam. The shadow of the cliff looks like a river in the satellite image, so it's a little confusing at first glance. The road stays on the north side of the river, and is quite driveable for several miles. Lots of camping spots. I didn't try to go up the cliff at the end there because I didn't even see a road going up, so I can't say whether the proposed route is viable or not.
