They did, but the invoice doesn't say anything about what went wrong. Just says they swapped the 12V.
Sounds like they replaced it a 2nd time? Maybe the tech had a bad 12v?

I purchased my new-to-me 23 R1S with 2400 miles on it on 7/3. Today got the 12V warning. Luckily mobile service scheduled for 7/31. Crosses fingers.

Two weeks ago, my truck started showing the "Replace 12V Battery" warning. I checked the voltage in the RiDE menu and everything looked normal (13-14V). The car was fully operational with the exception that it would not install the latest software update because of the the 12V error. The soonest I could get a mobile service appointment was a few weeks out.

The service tech came out to my house today. It turns out the RIDE menu only shows the primary, not secondary, battery voltage. The secondary battery voltage had dropped to just under 12V and presumably that's the signal for the error. The tech said they'll just replace both batteries as a precaution.

After about two hours of work, the service tech notified about the bad news: the car was wouldn't boot after the 12V swap. The new 12V batteries were solid, connections good, but the truck was bricked.

Service tech decided it needed a tow. Windows and frunk were open when the truck went dead so they hilariously duct-taped the frunk closed for transport. Tow process was sketchy on skates and visually looked threatening to the drive units.

I haven't gotten any update from the service center since they received the truck.

Will update this thread when I learn what went wrong.

My R1T bricked with no indication of a problem about three weeks ago. Drove it a few miles, parked it a few hours, came back to drive it and no electric. Rivian Denver SC came and picked up truck. It was in the shop for three weeks. Rivian tech said both 12volt batteries had overheated. They replaced both of them. I asked them what was the cause and I was told they were still analyzing what happened, but here is your truck and your good to go.

The truck has been working fine. I think I do notice the cooling fan for the batteries is running more often at start ups. Out door temp has been in the high 80’s.
