Finally after half a year of waiting around our truck that was in an accident back in July has been totaled out. It was a side impact in a school zone and truck is completely in drivable condition. The salvage value for truck right now is right around high 40k mark. Damage is pretty much just a door, outer rocker, and then dents in the inner rocker. Anybody on here do a rebuild yet? Is it worth buying back and attempting to repair?

I'd be worried about how supportive Rivian would be with replacement parts.

Pretty sure there would be zero support :CWL: they have zero idea how they are treating totaled vehicles. But can always get part from another salvage vehicle, not sure if rockers are recoverable off donor vehicle tho

there needs to be a warehouse of spare parts for the fleet .

There clueless in support

Become a rivian certified body shop and you’d likely be able to order all the parts you want

There are trucks in salvage already so you may be able to get parts that way.

Bigger issue may be trying to get insurance on a salvage titled car. You might want to talk to your insurance agent to see if it is worth the effort.

I was stating if you owned another brand , there is no problem ordering parts online

This is the first brand I have seen , I mfg aircraft door seals for various models and there is no aftermarket stock if the aircraft is not in production.

On a separate note, seems like it is way too easy to determine these vehicles as totaled.

Rivian should be looking into it to see what can be done on their side. Seems so wasteful to total these vehicles and waste all of the material and energy used to build them. Does not really align with Rivian’s sustainability goals.

That massive, singular side body panel is a real problem for repairability.

I was able to order the side underbody panels through service, but I told them I am working with an aftermarket company on rock sliders (which is true). They are stupidly expensive for what they are.

The door bottoms might be more difficult to convince them on.

Sounds about right. Service did not know if I could order parts and said if they did they would have to be installed at service center no matter the part...

This is exactly why I want to buy it back. I understand the big issue right now is that I have dents in my inner rocker. But they are so small I am tempted to try pulling the dents or just going without doing anything to them lol

I think they now have sections for the side. Before they had to replace the whole side of the truck. But now the problem is if anything under that outer panel is affected the entire roof, spoiler, dash, and more all needs to be removed rip

Was it the plastic pieces under the side that you were able to get?

Roughly jow much are they? Because I'm going to be a lot more concerned about cutting those up to get the running boards I preordered to fit if replacing them is that expensive.

$628 after tax for all 6 pieces. Interesting thing is only the rear pieces are specific to the R1T.
