I get the long service windows, but that’s with mostly minor issues.

Could you point to any actual facts or statistics regarding the interior not standing up to kids and dogs? Curious where you’re pulling that from.
I’ve not heard anyone really complaining about interior wear and tear.

I have 10k miles on mine, frequently have our 2 dogs who are 65 and 75 lbs, in the vehicle with us. Interior still looks new with no areas I see wear.

Yeah I think people are just making excuses for the 7+% APR at this point.

No facts, just my experience with how our family uses a vehicle. I was a little concerned when I saw the posts about seatbelts and door lining. I also wish there were more mfgr options that added interior and exterior protection.

I’m actually pretty bummed as I really wanted to go with it (even put a dedicated circuit in the garage anticipating the purchase last year).

So you’re going with feelz?

I don’t get it, but good luck with the Honda.

Only one I saw was from someone sliding their rough jeans over the seat bottom to get in and out, obviously making no attempt to minimize wear and then blaming the vehicle for being too high.

I saw one where someone talked about seatbelt hitting door-cards as well.

I just took these pictures today, 10k miles, seems to hold up well to me.

My In-laws could probably answer that question better than me, they spend more time in the second row than I do, ? but I didn't get any complaints during a recent 6 hour down & back drive to Miami.
If it's actual seat comfort that you're wondering about, the R1S second row isn't too bad. There's plenty of leg room and no center floor hump, a decent range of recline and ok firmness. Nice amount of fore & aft travel on the sliders. Although, It does gets a bit tight if there's someone in the third row.

For reference I'm running on stock 21's at 50psi. Ride harshness IMO could be improved. Its a bit bouncy compared to some of the other cars I've owned. The recent update has improved that quite a bit. To help back seat riders on highways I always set to all purpose/soft/standard height. Conserve and Auto ride height negatively affect second row comfort a noticeable amount. I really like the fact that the car is constantly evolving and improving over time with updates. That's one thing none of the other cars on my list have to offer.
Thanks. Little or a lot worse than Range Rover? It’s the bounce that I worry about. Wondering if I should go for the 20inch tires but some have commented that it doesn’t affect the ride all that much..

To coin an F1 term... the "porpoising" is worse in the R1S. I'm not a suspension engineer but it seems like the compression is about right but the rebound is too harsh. IOW, it absorbs the bump nicely but then springs back too rapidly.

Not sure how the all terrain 20's compare ride wise to the street oriented 21's. But the 20's will give you many more future options when it comes time to replacing tires vs. the 21's.

Fine line between too much rebound and not enough compression.

I think most people bought R1T/S mainly because of its quad motor drive train, >800 hp power, >900 ft.lb torque, 3s 0-60 acceleration, off-roading capability with air suspension, not because R1T/S can compete with Porsche, Land Rover, BMW, Mercedes in luxury features. OP seems to have the wrong expectation from the beginning so no wonder he got disappointed after the test drive.

I have been driving non-gasoline cars for my daily commute since 2010. Nothing more convenient than plugging in at home. Wasting time at a gas station after a long day at work is an intolerable thought to me.

I am a total gear head and have owned so many cars over the years. The R1S is functionally the best daily that I have ever owned. Ultimately it’ll come down to whether it stays reliable. I would never own a BMW SUV or Range Rover out of warranty. Total money pits.

My RRS was from 2010. I didn't keep it long so memory is a bit dated. It was floaty. The R1S is much more planted. Wish I had a more recent RR to compare to. I test drove 21" and 20" on the R1S and there wasn't much difference on rough roads. I went with the 20" and the latest ride is "just right" for me. Most of my DD were sports cars that you could tell a pebble on the road.

NB: R1S is at the SC for minor initial issues. I was given a BMW 530i from Enterprise and it felt like a corolla. Not knocking either car but the R1 spoiled me.

Excellent review !!! Thank you for sharing.

Every single detail that you mention about the Rivian is totally valid and I agree 100% with you in all of them, with more emphasis on the suspension that sucks. (RIvian R1S rattles everywhere, you missed mention that..... )

Every 2-3 days someone ask me how do I like the Rivian and I take the time to explain every single thing that you just described..... Also I add the 25 days in service in first 2 months and the felling of driving in a highway with my family and suddenly enter a limp mode...... slowing from 75 to 19 mph because some lazy Rivian employee at the factory didn't route a brake sensor cable properly.

You did the right thing to cancel it. My advise is don't look back, for $100K Rivian is falling short on everything when others don't.

sorry you got a lemon. Did it not qualify for lemon law? I’m seeing a lot of Mach E’s bought back at around 15k miles, so you might still get it to qualify.

through 9 months my R1T is hands down best vehicle owned, and I have owned some awesome vehicles.
