My Rivian R1T went in for it's first SC appointment this week at the brand new Canton MA Service Center at 125 Shawmut Road in Canton MA. Mine was one of the first vehicles to be seen there! Overall a great experience; Kayvon was the SC Rep who greeted me when as arrived on Wednesday morning. He put me in a Gen 1 R1S while my R1T was in the center, and I was out the door and on the way back home in short order. I also got to see Jesse when I checked in; he was the site corrdinator who let us test drive a Gen2 R1S a month ago. It was great to see him, too!
The SC addressed the two recalls; replacing the two lower fascia lamps, and replacing Left mirror assembly. The left mirror was what, apparently, had caused my Driver Assist functionality to diminish (lost all the surrounding traffic images) and it was also throwing an error that prevented the latest release from being able to download. Kayvon touched base with me throughout the servicing. The status on the app showed me what was done and what was being done. Got a call from Kayvon yesterday afternoon that the R1T was done and ready for pickup with the new update. Got back to the service center for 5PM and was back on the road by 5:30. There are a string of L2 chargers in the parking lot and I let my truck get some energy before hitting the road (the DCFC units have not yet been activated).
Overall, just a great experience. Nice crew, the truck was fully repaired and functional. A service technician came out while I was sitting in the R1T and congratulated me on being one of the first trucks through the center. The Canton facility is 50 miles from my home. Considering that our Nissans were serviced by a dealer in Raynham; 25 miles, it was not a bad drive.
The drive home was amazing - I felt like I was being driven home in the USS Enterprise! Navigation, sensors, vehicle images, RADAR, enhanced Driver Assist - and Apple Music barely acted up, too boot! It was marvelous!
Great job, Rivian! Great crew!
