If they are indeed using CATL, the timing is kind of perfect for them to draw down production of Standard, shift that production capacity to Large and/or Max (i.e. Tri and Quad)—where profit margins are higher—while they find a new LFP supplier. Alternatively, they could also do software locked NMC Large for the time-being. There is flexibility built-in in their manufacturing. Not as bad as news seem at face value.

Even if they were banned what’s to stop them from relocating and rebranding?

IMO ultimately we need to be producing as much as possible here and not relying on foreign adversaries to supply critical components.

I read this article as the US Military banning them from supplying the US Government. AFAIK this is a restriction as they can still do business with private companies like Tesla and Rivian.

I dunno man, from what I've seen, if I had to place a bet on revolutionary next-gen battery product being developed and put into mass production, CATL would be near the top of the list.
