I have left my R1S for 2 weeks with manageable loss of charge in the range of 1% or less per day. The 1% would be in cold temps (below freezing) and in milder climes it does better. I keep gear guard off and I don’t check on it via the app while gone in fact I usually just kill the app until I get back.

If you're not paranoid about keeping the gear guard active, I put my R1S in "shipping mode" for long stints, and the drain is almost none. I do the same thing if we leave the Rivian at home during vacations. For extended periods at home, I even use an "on demand" trickle charger connected to the OBD-II plug under the dash. I have read that others connect a solar panel laying on the dash to the same plug when parked at an uncovered lot.

Hmmmm, very interesting!

My quick investigation seems to imply that shipping mode may not be available to owners. Is something special required to enable it? Will the R2 get this option do you think?

How do you "wake it up" from shipping mode?

I agree with the suggestion to leave GG off at the airport. If something actually happen, going by past experience GG will likely miss it and even if it did manage to catch something that event could have happened weeks ago at a busy international airport. The chances of getting some sort of restitution from anything it may capture and save are close to zero percent IMO.

If it's like the R1, you can still enter the vehicle normally or at least with the key card or fob then you just turn off Shipping Mode via the GUI.

The "shipping mode" is an option at the bottom of the "settings" screen. Easy/fast on/off.

Will the phone still work to get in the car while in shipping mode or do you need the card or fob?

Yes, the phone still locks and unlocks the car. I never use/tried my fob. When ready to "activate driving", just press the brake pedal to turn on the screen, and then turn off the shipping setting.

Not an answer to your question, but you should always carry the card in your wallet as it's the primary passive hardware level unlock device. It runs at an even more basic level than the fob.
