Today I plugged in the charger and noticed that the charge port door opens much slower than it was previously.

This is the first time I charged the vehicle since performing an update, so I'm not sure if the most recent update has caused this or if it's coincidence.

Has anybody noticed their charge port door opening and closing slower than it previously did?

I have noticed variation. Once in a while it goes super fast. No idea what the variation would be. Makes me think the 12v circuit has fluctuation, but not sure if that is really cause?

The one thing that really worries me is the charge port door motor breaking and not being able to get the door open. I asked at the service center if there was a manual override and they said no……

If necessary, I figure I would just break it open. Seems built weak enough it wouldn't be too hard.

Does the mechanism of the charge port door just twist it straight open where it ramps out or does it need to 'pop out' first. I couldn't make it out too clearly in a video.

I'd hope it's the former, one continous motion would seem more reliable and less likely to get blocked by ice.

Tesla has a manual release and it’s heated for freezing conditions. I bet dollars to donuts that Rivian overlooked this.

Mine won't close. I'll trade you!

(I can manually close it but it's tricky. I have to tell it to open so it starts the motor and then I can gently guide it into place. It's extra tricky to get it pressed completely flush. Sometimes takes a couple of passes. Repair appointment is this week.)

It's a single motor, the dual action is from a cam moulded into the plastic. Only had one icy day back in April with mine but it had no issues popping the ice off. It would not shut completely but it didn't seem to matter.
