Charger payment/timing

8 steps just opened up for me with VIN 102xx, still a 2022 model year (with AT 20s so they must have a new batch in). I‘ve signed the contracts etc, but not uploaded insurance coverage as I don’t have a delivery date, and have not paid anything beyond the $1k deposit. For those of you that ordered the charger, did you have to make an additional payment before Rivian shipped it to you, or did they just debit the $1k deposit? I’d like to have the charger installed before the truck arrives.

My charger showed up either a week or two after the truck. It ships when they get to it or when they have one available to ship seems to be the status.

My charger did not ship until after I took delivery, but I know some people get it ahead of time.

i got my charger a few days before i picked up my vehicle and before payment was even sent/finalized.

I'm not sure the rhyme/reason of it. My EVSE didn't ship until after I took delivery.

I've wondered if some of the Wall EVSEs we've seen scalped, online, were people who were shipped the EVSE and didn't follow through with purchasing the vehicle?

My charger showed up a week after starting the 8 step process. My truck meanwhile is on a slow train from Illinois with no clue when it'll arrive.

I got mine a week ago and my R1T is being transported via rail right now. Unknown delivery as of now.

My 8 steps opened Monday and just got a tracking number for the charger. I haven't done final payment yet so presumably it's debited against the deposit
