Going to Mammoth next week. 1st long trip in R1S. Very hyped to use the RAN chargers along route 395.

Looking at NAV, it seems there are zero superchargers past Bishop. Almost too hard to believe.

Am I missIng one (or two)?

There are a few Rivians in Mammoth. We have a charger in our garage as I expect the rest do as well. There are no chargers in town that I am aware of. However, if you charge in Bishop, you should have enough for your trip. Yes, you will lose a bunch going up the hill, but driving around town shouldn’t take that much. Going back to Bishop requires very little as you would imagine. If you get in a jamb, send me a message.

I just got back from Mammoth Lakes to Hermosa Beach where we live. I did a prior post but Joe Google shows 29 ev chargers in Mammoth Lakes. A few at high end hotels like Westin, etc and the rest are Tesla at two different spots in town. No Rivian chargers at all which needs to change before this summer when many will want to do off road adventures in the area. The RV park has a few that can be used in the summer but right now they are covered in snow. At the Tesla DC fast chargers located to the west of the Stove restaraunt, there are 3 small AC Tesla chargers also. I am not sure what the deal is with these (maybe Tesla was required to put in 3 public ones??) I plugged in the one on the left (most north) and it worked for me so I charged for about 30 minutes. The other two I tried and they didn't work. I dont know how long your stay is in Mammoth but if you charge to 100% or close in Bishop you will be ok for a 3-4 day stay driving around Mammoth and still get safely back to Bishop. It took about 63 miles of charge to go the 45-50 miles uphill from Bishop to Mammoth and hardly any miles to go back downhill. On the way up: there are about 7 EA fast chargers in Mojave behind the Comfort Inn. There are 2-3 RANs in Inyokern about 3-4 miles off 395, there are 3 RANs in Olancha behind a gas station with a very nice and clean store/restrooms and a deli. Bishop has 6 RANs. Let’s all write to RJ and get him to install RANs in Mammoth Lakes or get the Tesla Approval expidited!!! Have fun. JB

Hey Captain,

Thanks for pointing out the Tesla destination charger at the station next to Stove restaurant.

Questions:
- What kind of connector is on this one? NACS? Do you have an adapter to go from NACS to CCS?
- How did you initiate and pay for the charge? This station does not show up on the Tesla app in the "charge your Non-Tesla" section

I believe it was just the standard J1772 connector. I just plugged it in and it did not ask for any payment. That is why I think they are public. Maybe the city told Tesla, you can install your super chargers here if you add 3 Ac public chargers? JB

Not open yet. Nor is the EA charging station that had the whole hillside parking lot under construction last Summer. There's some updates on Plugshare. Was just in that lot this evening, guessing there will be no progress until the warmer months. They did install bollards and the lot is open again.

The Tesla level 3 at the ice rink is the best option, but needs a NACS adapter

Not sure posting it here will help but it would be super nice if people leaving Mammoth in the morning would limit their sessions at the RAN in Bishop to what they actually need to continue their trip as opposed to disappearing for over an hour to grab breakfast in town or whatever is going on.

More options in Mammoth to charge there before heading out can’t come soon enough!

It's all downhill from Mammoth to Bishop. Charge to 100% the night before and drive and charge at Lone Pine, Olancha or Inyokern.

Plenty of charging options between RAN and Tesla SC.
