I was already expecting to have to have my phone on the charging pad running Waze, this just confirms that expectation. Hopefully this is something they will improve over time because 99% of the time I won't need the Rivian Nav to help me find my next charging stop. I just need to navigate my way through and around DFW traffic on a daily basis.Based on experience, Rivian's navigation was nearly not as good as Google Maps when it came to finding a way out of city traffic. Rivian may be better at some things, but not that.
" it's hard to believe anyone would actually prefer poking through menus to adjust the steering wheel"
Those are the kind of usage assumptions that get designers in trouble. Some of us are constantly fiddling with the vents and temp (especially the vents). And while the drive mode can probably be left at one setting on-road, off-road is a different matter as MT has already highlighted." it's hard to believe anyone would actually prefer poking through menus to adjust the steering wheel"
Number of times I'm going to
a) adjust the steering wheel
b) adjust the vents
c) set the internal temp
d) set mode to sport
e) enable tank turns on command
f) change nearly anything else
-> 1.
Not necessarily. R1T is a lifestyle truck, Lightning is a work truck. The $40K version of the Lightning is critical for fleet purchases/sales. Rivian has no option for such fleets to even consider. So, it is a very valid point that CNN and others are making about a critical difference.Rivian needs to make a vinyl R1T with nothing in it for 45k and sell 3 of them, that '40k Lightning' comparo is going to hurt, even if its not even close to a comparison vehicle. The sentence about competing with more richly equipped vehicles and then mentioning the base Lightning is just flat out wrong. The comparative lightning will be 90k
The $40k Lightning is not even available for purchase by regular individuals. You have to be a commercial buyer. As an individual, you can buy the most basic, but only in the extended range which will put it closer to $50k.Not necessarily. R1T is a lifestyle truck, Lightning is a work truck. On the other hand, Ford needs the fleet sales, whereas Rivian already accepted 100K of van orders from Amazon; it is a different sales approach.
In my car, if you mess with the vents you are banned from ever riding again.Those are the kind of usage assumptions that get designers in trouble. I am frequently adjusting my vents based on sun position and other factors influencing my comfort. Banning myself isn't an option.In my car, if you mess with the vents you are banned from ever riding again.
Easy solution for the latter point, just create an off road driver profile and select it when you get in the vehicle. Will adjust seat position, steering wheel, vents, mirrors. Easy peasy.
